Capgemini Verbal Paper - Question 11

In a row of girls, Nivedita is 15th from the left and Vimla is 23rd from the right. If they interchange their positions, then Nivedita becomes 18 th from the left. Then at what position will Vimla be from the right?

Detailed Solution for Capgemini Verbal Paper - Question 11

Correct Answer :- c

Explanation : We know that after the exchange 23rd place from right(Vimla’s initial position) is equivalent to 18th from the left(Nivedita’s position after exchange).

Now if we take positioning from left as convention ,we have

18 = x - 23 , where x is the total number of girls in the row ,thus giving 41 girls.

Now what remains is to find the equivalent of Nivedita’s initial position which is now the position of Vimla from right.

Thus we say 15th from left is (41–15) from right.

Vimla’s position is 26th from right.
