Brain storming is a democratic and problem-centred technique. It is based on modern theory of generalization of task. In this technique the content is largely determined by the children.

Mathematics is an important subject in school curriculum. It is more closely related to our daily life. Engineering, banking and other business are directly linked with mathematics. In the absence of it students would not get any opportunity for mental training. Student’s intellectual development might be affected. So Kothari commission suggested science and mathematics should be taught on a compulsory basis to all pupils as a part of general education during first ten years of schooling.

Drill work is based on the psychological principles such as learning by doing and law of exercise. It’s means to strengthen the knowledge already acquired. Drill is not mere a repetition of an act. It is a serious work activity leading to perfection of the skill. Practice may be a right synonym for drill. It provides opportunity of self-Improvement. One cannot achieve speed and accuracy in solving mathematical problems without a good practice. But, the practice should be done with understanding and with a clear idea of the objectives and goals. This technique of teaching is widely used by the teachers to revise a lesson that has already been taught.

If a child answered area as length and breadth it means he or she has developed a misconception about the concept of area that is he or she over generalize area of rectangle as general idea of area of any closed shape.

To develop skill of counting among children seriation, creating groups, one to one correspondence, sorting is required to be learned as pre number concept. Reciting number names randomly is not required to develop the skill of counting.
