Praful Patel, President of All India Football Federation (AIFF) has been designated to be FIFA Executive Council member. The 15th edition of the Morocco- US sponsored exercise “African Lion 2019”, took place in Morocco. It was conducted from March 16 to April 7,2019. The annual Military exercise materialized in the region of Agadir,Tifnit,Tan-Tan, Tata and Ben Guerir with the participation of thousands of military personnel.The drills include training on Counter terrorism operations,land and air exercises and also tactical stimulation.It was jointly organized by the United States Command for Africa (AFRICOM) and Moroccan Royal Armed Forces (FAR).

On 4th April 2019,a Scholar of Pali, Dr. Gyanaditya Shakya, has been honoured with the Presidential Award of Maharshi Badrayan Vyas Samman 2019 with prize money of INR 1,00,000 and a certificate. He accepted award from Vice- President of India M Venkaiah Naidu. World Health Day is observed annually on April 7, under the sponsorship of World Health Organization (WHO), to spread awareness about equal healthcare facilities worldwide, the importance of Health and Wellness and to kill the myths around Health.The Theme of World Health Day 2019 was “Universal health Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere” under the WHO slogan “Health for All”.Ministry of Health and Family Welfare along with World Health Organization (WHO) formed a Solidarity Human Chain as part of the World Health Day celebrations to reaffirm their commitment to bridging gaps and working collaboratively towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

The Guwahati Railway Station has become the first ever railway station in the Indian Railways to get an ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) certification from the National Green Tribunal (NGT).It has been given this certificate for providing passenger amenities in a clean and green environment.ISO certification received by Guwahati Railway Station is ISO-14001, which is for Environment Management System as per international norms which were upgraded in 2015.

On 6th April 2019, 73-year-old Israeli Isaak Hayik set a new world record as the world’s oldest person to play in a professional soccer match. He played a match for FC Ironi Or Yehuda against FC Maccabi Ramat Gan.The previous record holder was 53 years old Uruguayan Robert Carmona who played a professional match in 2015.Hayik was born in Iraq and immigrated to Israel with his parents. He was officially recognized in an award ceremony attended by representatives from the Guinness World Record organization.

On 8th April, 2019, London became the first city in the world to implement a Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) for 24×7 hours a week, inside which vehicles will have to meet tough emissions standards.This zone aims to reduce toxic air pollution and protect public health.Motorists who drive into the zone in a vehicle that does not meet the new emission standard will have to pay a daily charge.

On 8th April 2019, a three-day joint military exercise between India and Singapore named ‘Bold Kurukshetra–2019’ started in Jhansi’s Babina Cantonment, Uttar Pradesh to strengthen cooperation against terrorism, develop defence technology and boost maritime security.Colonel SP Singh led the Indian counterpart, and Lieutenant Colonel Tong Chong Kiat led the Singapore counterpart. Brigadier Ranjan Keron reviewed the march past of both the contingents.Background of this exercise: An official agreement signed between India and Singapore in November 2017 to strengthen defence ties between their respective armed forces and for this agreement, personnel from the Singapore Armed Forces will receive training along with the Indian Armed Forces.

According to the World Economic Outlook (WEO) report released by International Monetary Fund (IMF), India’s growth rate is estimated to rise from 7.3% in 2019 to 7.5% in 2020 provided it receives impetus from the fiscal policy and is backed by the ongoing recovery of investment and consumption within expanded approach of monetary policy. As per the report, India’s growth rate was 7.1% in 2018 against China’s 6.6%. India will remain the fastest growing major economy in the world.According to the report, India’s growth is approximated to stabilise at just under 7¾ over the medium term. This will be possible when structural reforms will continuously be implemented and infrastructure gridlocks would be eased.
