Jute, cotton and flax are natural fibre but nylon is a synthetic fibre or man-made fibre. It is not a natural fibre because it is not made by plants.

Cotton is best suited in the field having black soil and warm climatic condition.

Stem of jute is used to obtain jute fibre used for making a number of articles like bag, coarse cloths etc.

The protein fiber of silk is composed mainly of fibroin and is produced by certain insect larvae to form cocoons. The best-known silk is obtained from the cocoons of the larvae of the mulberry silkworm.

The cotton plant produces a single upright stem with a semi-woody texture that grows to a maximum height of approximately 6 feet. Its leaves are dark green with three to five lobes that reach roughly 2 to 4 inches in overall length.

It is believed that cotton was first produced in India, from where it spread to different part of world.

In hot and humid conditions, cotton fabrics are more preferred because cotton absorb the sweat more easily.

Cotton seeds are removed through a process called ginning.

In the ginning the raw cotton or seed cotton is cleaned and then passed on to next process where ginning machines, with the help of knife and a saw blade removes seed from raw cotton and the conveyor moves the ginned cotton and cotton seeds to their respective areas.

Cotton is a soft fibre that grows around the seeds of the cotton plant.

It gives us cotton seed oil. Cotton is a warm season crop that requires moderate rainfall.

Medium sized weaving machine run on power, used to produce cotton clothes on large scale is called as power loom.

A loom is a device designed to weave threads into cloth. The power loom was a steam-powered loom that mechanized the process, reducing the need for humans to oversee the weaving process.
