NEET 2020: Important Dates [Official], Application, Eligibility, Syllabus, Exam Pattern & Result
NEET 2020 is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on 3 May. It takes place once a year for admission in medical courses like MBBS, BDS and PG in both private and government medical colleges. It is an offline (pen- paper), objective (MCQ) type entrance exam.
On 28th April 2016 honorable supreme court approved NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test as the single examination. The development that took place three days before the AIPMT 2016 exam has created a lot of confusion amongst medical aspirants who were studying for various medical entrance exams all over the country. Registration for NEET 2020 began on Dec 2, 2019. Last date for the submission of both online and offline application is Jan 6 (11.50pm)
Latest: NTA is to start the facility of NEET correction window 2020 from 15 Jan to 31 Jan.

NEET Eligibility
Nationality: Indian, Person of Indian Origin(PIOs), Overseas citizen of India (OCIs),Foreign National and Non- Resident India (NRIs), candidates are considered as eligible.
Age Limit : Candidates must be at least 17 years of age by 31 December 2020. Maximum Age limit is 25 years. 5 years of age relaxation is given to SC/ST/OBC/PH.
Qualification and qualifying percentage : Candidate must have passed out 10 2 Board Exam or equivalent from a recognized institute with at least five mandatory subjects Biology, chemistry, Physics, English and one elective subject. Candidates should obtained the required aggregate marks in the qualifying examinations:
  • General category : 50% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • Physically Handicapped : general category- 45% marks in the qualifying examination
  • SC/ST/OBC category : 40% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • PH: SC/ST/OBC category : 40% marks in the qualifying examination.

NEET Application Form

NEET aspirants can get access to NEET 2020 Application form on December 2nd, 2019. Candidates can apply for NEET 2020 only via the online process. Following are the steps:

Step I - Visit the official website to complete the required process. Enter the valid email id and phone number.

Step II - Complete the application form by entering correct personal details, Academic details, Exam centre preference etc..

Step III - Upload scanned image of a recent passport size photograph and signature in JPG/JPEG format only.

Step IV - NEET 202application Form cannot be submitted without paying the prescribed non refundable application fees.

NEET Exam dress Code

The Conducting body for NEET exam, NTA has released some guidelines regarding the attire on the day of examination. It has also specified a list of items that are prohibited in the exam hall. Anycase of negligence regarding dress code will lead to disqualification of the candidature and will hence not be allowed to appear for the examination.

NEET 2020 Dress code for males:

  1. Try to wear simple shirts/pants.
  2. Full-sleeves T-shirts/shirts are not allowed
  3. Clothes should not have pockets, big buttons, layers etc
  4. Avoid layering of clothes
  5. Avoid wearing kurtas and pyjamas
  6. Footwear should be simple. Boots, shoes or any covered footwear are not permitted
  7. You can opt for light slippers or sandals.

NEET 2020 Dress code for females:

  1. Wear half-sleeved shirts/shirts
  2. Fancy and long sleeves of any design are not allowed
  3. Avoid embroidery, frills, layering with different pieces. Try to keep it simple.
  4. Avoid all jewellery both metallic and non-metallic.
  5. Fancy footwears are not permitted in the exam hall. Avoid boots, heels, shoes
  6. Opt for slippers or open sandals

The National Test Agency will be releasing the admit card NEET 2020 on March 27, 2020. NEET Result

The NEET exam conducting authority National Test Agency (NTA) will release the NEET 2020 result on their official site on 4th June 2020. Here you can get the direct link to check the NEET result once it is out. Make sure you people have the roll number and date of birth to access the result.

NEET Cut Off

NEET cut off is the minimum score required for qualifying the examination. Candidates who score above the NEET cut off percentile become eligible to participate in the admission process. The cut off of NEET varies for candidates belonging to reserved and unreserved categories. The standard NEET cut off has been prescribed by the National Testing Agency. But, the Medical/ Dental Council of India can increase/decrease the cut off of NEET if the seats are left vacant. The Dental Council of India recently lowered the NEET cut off 2019 for admissions to BDS courses by 10 percentile.

The cut off for NEET 2019 was lowered by DCI owing to several vacant seats across various dental colleges. A stray round was then conducted for the candidates who has become eligible for NEET counselling after the cut offs were lowered.

NEET cut off 2019 was not very different from that of the previous years. The cut off mark for NEET 2019 for general category was 134 out of 720. Candidate must note that this is the score of the last candidate admitted to MBBS in the open round.

NEET Counselling 2020

Candidates who will qualify in NEET 2020 will be eligible to apply for counselling which is of two types –

  1. All India NEET 2020 counselling which will take place for 15% of the seats in all government colleges of the country as well as the prescribed quota under the central universities and 100percent of the seats in deemed universities.
  2. State-wise NEET counselling 2020 will take place for 85% of the remaining government seats as well as 100% of the seats in private colleges.

All the admissions are on the basis of the NEET 2020 scores and ranks. Though states may consider their own merit ranks based on the NEET 2020 marks/ranks obtained by the students. Note that state counselling will be independent of the All India NEET 2020 counselling conducted by MCI. Also, students must meet the eligibility prescribed by the state such as study period in the state, domicile before applying.

It must be noted that as mentioned, admission in undergraduate seats of AIIMS and JIPMER will be done on the basis of NEET. Details for the same are yet to be announced.

NEET 2020 Counselling will generally have two rounds for All India and State, both. Rest of the rounds will be for vacant seats in deemed and central universities. In the case of AIQ, any vacant government seats will fall back to their respective state quota .

Yes, it is possible that a few questions can come which are not from the syllabus. But the number of such questions will be quite less.
