Oxidizing agent: 
Classical concept :      A substance which brings oxidation is called oxidising agent.
Oxidation number concept :  A substance which is an element whose oxidation number
decreases in a chemical reaction is called oxidizing
agent.
In this process an oxidising agent itself undergoes reduction by accepting the 
electrons.
