Industries of jharkhand is a Key progress of any state. Because it create
employed as well as increasing the purchasing power of the individual Although
industrial production also increase export potential and revenue of the state through
taxes As for as Industrial production of jharkhand is concered 40% of the total
mineral of the India are located in jharkhand.
The factor of the development of Industries are as follows :

There are many agro based small-scale industries in jharkhand. They are as
follows :
1. Tobacco Industries-In jharkhand, tobacco industries mainly comprises of
Biri Industry. It has developed in almost all small and large town because in this area
indu leaves are easy available. Manoharpur and chakradharpur are noted for the
concentration of Bidi industry.
2. Handlooms : Handloom sector plays very important role in providing part
time and full time employment to weaver. Weaver cooperative society established
19,000 handlooms in santhal paraganes, a few decads ago. palamu had many
handlooms. The chhotanagpur Regional Handloom weavers located at Irba (Ranchi)
used to run many handlooms centers,but most of them have closed down.

potentialities of employment, It includes precocoon and post cocoon activities
Tasar production is well known in jharkhand. Sal, Arjun and Asen are Tasar food
plants. And Tasar silk is produced in the district of santhal pargana, Godda, palamu,
Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, etc ‘‘Tasar Reasearch Centre’’ is located at Ratu
(Ranchi’ for development of Tasar A jharkhand silk Development Institute has also
been established by the state government in Hehal (Ranchi), Jharkhand suriculture
Development Institute (ISDI) has also been strengthened to give impetus to the
sector.
5. Stone industry-Stone crushing industries have emerged as a common
industry in jharkhand mainly because of the Boom in building construction indus-
try Because of Builders, roads, bridge and other construction  requirment these is
huge demand of stones of different sizes small industries have emerged been for
size bricks and stone chips
6. Lac and shallac Industry-jharkhand is the leading producer of lac and
shellac as it produces 41.% of the country’s lac output the condition for rearing of
lac norms and development of lac and shellac industry an trees like kusum, palas
and Ber. The Availability of Bers are generally seen in plateau of Ranchi & Hazaribagh
kusum is found in the districts of Gumla, West singbhum, Ranchi and Lohardagga.
The large scale industries of jharkhand as follows.
1. Deoghar : This industrial area include Jasidin. Important industries are M/
S La-Opala glass ltd. Radha Glass and industries saharsa alloy and steel ltd. Tata oil
Mills Co. ltd etc.
2. Singbhum : This area include centers arround jamshedpur in East singbhum
and Adityapur in Saraikela kharaswan and in west Singbhum has only cement
industry.
3. Palamu Gartwa : This area important for minerals. Iron ore deposits arc
found at (iore. Datum, Biwabathan and Sua near. Daltonganj. Dolomite is also
available in Palamu. Garhwa is also rich in minerals. Itsb-’o blocks. Bhawanathpur
and Nagar Untari, have deposits of dolomite. There is some coal deposit in
Bhandariya block. Deposits of graphite, china clay ahd granite are also available in
the district. In this area only one cement industry, which is located in Japla in
Palamu. This factory was storted in 1922.
In Garhwa, Bihar Caustic and Chemicals Industries is situated in Rehla. It is a
joint venture between the Bihar State Industrial Development Corporation (BS1DC)
and the Birla Group. The factory produces caustic soda. The shares of BSIDC are
yet to be transferred to the Government of Jharkhand.
3. Palamu Garhwa : This area important for minerals. in this area only one
cement industry, Which is located in japla is palamu This factory was started in
1922.

Engineering corporation (HEC), The forge foundry plant (f f p) The Heavy Machine
Building plant (HMBP), The Heavy Machine Tool plant (HMTP)
Industry located in Tatisilvai (Ranchi) is the Usha Martin (Usha Beltron
now) Company, which is located at Tatisilvai. It produces wire ropes, which is
consumed in mining industry, engineering industry, aerial ropeway, etc. There was
another factory of Usha Beltron for the manufacture of jelly filled telecommunication
cable, but this unit is closed now. The Usha Beltron group has two other units,
which; manufactures Hydrolic Press and Mining Electronics separately.
Another important industry in private sector (Birla Group) in Ranchi is the H
indalco Industries formerly called’Indian Aluminium Company Ltd. (INDAL). It
produces alumina hydrate, which is supplied to the smelter at Alwaye in Kerala
and Hirakud. Its raw material bauxile comes from Bagru mines located in Lohardaga
district; caustic soda comes from another Birla concern Bihar Caustic & Chemical
Ltd located iniRehla. Water supply requirements are met by water supplies from
adjacent Suwarneraha River. The cement factory located in khelari which was
established in 1938.
6. Lohardaga : This region were known for bauxite reserves Here industries
are smaller in size and small-scale industries such as saw mills, furniure making. Bidi
industry, rice mills Baxite is sent to Muri (Silli Block) in Ranchi where Hindalco
factory Refers  the buxite
7. Dhanbad Bokaro Region :  Dhanbad is the very important district for industry.
This region is significant industrial area of jharkhand.
Coal industry is the most dominant industry. The metallurgical coal of the
Jharia coalfield has given Dhanbad a very important place in the industrial map of
the nation. It is coal, which has attracted and brought about a concentration of
numerous other industries.
One of the largest industries is the fertiliser factory of the Fertiliser
Corporation of India at Sindri. It has the capacity to manufacture 3.5 lakh tonnes
of ammonia sulphate. 20 thousand tonnes of urea, and 54 thousand tonnes of
ammonia nitrate. Another important industry at Sindri is the cement unit of
Associated Cement Companies Ltd. (ACC)
Hindustan Zinc Ltd is another industry run by the Metal Trading Corporation
of India atTundoo. It produces lead and silver from the ores received from Zawar
mines in Rajasthan. It gets other raw materials from different places.
Dhanbad region have many industrial establishment such as Kumardubhi
Fireclay and Silica W orks Ltd.. Kumardubhi ii) the Reliance Firebricks and Pottery
(‘ornpanv Ltd, Chrikunda, iii) the Biluir Fire Bricks and Potteries Ltd., Mugma.

Bokaro district is mainly known as the steel city. The giant public sector
undertaking, Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL). commenced production in October 1972.
It produced 1.7 million tonnes of ingot steel in 1978. Today the BSL produces 4.5
million tonnes of crude steel and 3.S million tonnes of ho: and cold rolled products.
It caters to the needs of a wide range of customers like the Railways, the Defence,
the LPG industry, the Cycle industry, the Car industry and many others. A new
plant ‘Electro Steel Ltd.’ has also come up in Bokaro.
 The Damodar valley corporation (DVC) associates with the two thermal power
plant viz Bakaro Thermal power plant and chandrapura Thermal power plant.
One captive power plant located in Tenughat Indian Explosive limited (IE2)
There is one explosive factory located in Gomia.
Other industries in the district are mainly mica based material Important mica
Industrial centers are Domchanch, Jhumri-Tilaiya, etc. In Hazaribagh. new Coal
mine! are coming up.
In Ramgarh, there are many large and medium industries. They are power,
cement, glass, alloy steel, telecom & refractory industries. The Patratu Thermal
Power Plant (FTPS) was established in 1960. It is under the control of Jharkhand
State Electricity’ Board (JSEB). A new thermal power plant is coming at Patratu.
There is one glass industry at Patratu named “Indo-Ashai Glass Company” which
manufactures different types of sheet glass. The Government is trying to revive
with the help of new entrepreneur. Another industry located in Patratu is “Bihar
Alloy Steel Ltd. But this industry has been taken over by Jidal Steel Ltd. In Ramgarh
Brahmaputra Steel has been established. Inland Power and Mukund Steel is going
to come up at Gola Block. Burnpur Cement Factory is also being established at
Patratu.

Jharkhand Industrial policy 2012 was formulated and implemented after the
Creation of states of jharkhand
Objectives :
1. To Convert jharkhand into a favoured destination for investors and to
promotes Sustainable industrial growth of the state.
2. To estabhish linkages between large industries and MSME ancillary
industries.
3. To give a boost to manufacturing activity and develop down stream
processing industries for consurmer durables engineering goods etc in
major industrial pockets.
4. To facilitate optimal utilization of states minerals, And other natural
resources.

3. Wooden Industries : These are forest related industries have emerged in
almost all small and big towns including some rural area. Saw Mills have emerged in
towns as well as in rural areas. the wooden logs are cut into different shape and
sizes in accordance with the needs of builders furniture makes, etc.
Sericulture : These agro based export oriented Industries have immense
potentialities of employment, It includes precocoon and post cocoon activities
Tasar production is well known in jharkhand. Sal, Arjun and Asen are Tasar food
plants. And Tasar silk is produced in the district of santhal pargana, Godda, palamu,
Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, etc ‘‘Tasar Reasearch Centre’’ is located at Ratu
(Ranchi’ for development of Tasar A jharkhand silk Development Institute has also
been established by the state government in Hehal (Ranchi), Jharkhand suriculture
Development Institute (ISDI) has also been strengthened to give impetus to the
sector.
5. Stone industry-Stone crushing industries have emerged as a common
industry in jharkhand mainly because of the Boom in building construction indus-
try Because of Builders, roads, bridge and other construction  requirment these is
huge demand of stones of different sizes small industries have emerged been for
size bricks and stone chips
6. Lac and shallac Industry-jharkhand is the leading producer of lac and
shellac as it produces 41.% of the country’s lac output the condition for rearing of
lac norms and development of lac and shellac industry an trees like kusum, palas
and Ber. The Availability of Bers are generally seen in plateau of Ranchi & Hazaribagh
kusum is found in the districts of Gumla, West singbhum, Ranchi and Lohardagga.
The large scale industries of jharkhand as follows.
1. Deoghar : This industrial area include Jasidin. Important industries are M/
S La-Opala glass ltd. Radha Glass and industries saharsa alloy and steel ltd. Tata oil
Mills Co. ltd etc.
2. Singbhum : This area include centers arround jamshedpur in East singbhum
and Adityapur in Saraikela kharaswan and in west Singbhum has only cement
industry.
3. Palamu Gartwa : This area important for minerals. Iron ore deposits arc
found at (iore. Datum, Biwabathan and Sua near. Daltonganj. Dolomite is also
available in Palamu. Garhwa is also rich in minerals. Itsb-’o blocks. Bhawanathpur
and Nagar Untari, have deposits of dolomite. There is some coal deposit in
Bhandariya block. Deposits of graphite, china clay ahd granite are also available in
the district. In this area only one cement industry, which is located in Japla in
Palamu. This factory was storted in 1922.
In Garhwa, Bihar Caustic and Chemicals Industries is situated in Rehla. It is a
joint venture between the Bihar State Industrial Development Corporation (BS1DC)
and the Birla Group. The factory produces caustic soda. The shares of BSIDC are
yet to be transferred to the Government of Jharkhand.
3. Palamu Garhwa : This area important for minerals. in this area only one
cement industry, Which is located in japla is palamu This factory was started in
1922.
4. Ghatsla : This area include Southern side of East singbhum in this area
Hindustan copper corporetion ltd estaslished copper industry in 1924 Brass is also
manuafacting in This region.
5. Ranchi Region : Many big industries are located in this area viz Heavy
Engineering corporation (HEC), The forge foundry plant (f f p) The Heavy Machine
Building plant (HMBP), The Heavy Machine Tool plant (HMTP)
Industry located in Tatisilvai (Ranchi) is the Usha Martin (Usha Beltron
now) Company, which is located at Tatisilvai. It produces wire ropes, which is
consumed in mining industry, engineering industry, aerial ropeway, etc. There was
another factory of Usha Beltron for the manufacture of jelly filled telecommunication
cable, but this unit is closed now. The Usha Beltron group has two other units,
which; manufactures Hydrolic Press and Mining Electronics separately.
Another important industry in private sector (Birla Group) in Ranchi is the H
indalco Industries formerly called’Indian Aluminium Company Ltd. (INDAL). It
produces alumina hydrate, which is supplied to the smelter at Alwaye in Kerala
and Hirakud. Its raw material bauxile comes from Bagru mines located in Lohardaga
district; caustic soda comes from another Birla concern Bihar Caustic & Chemical
Ltd located iniRehla. Water supply requirements are met by water supplies from
adjacent Suwarneraha River. The cement factory located in khelari which was
established in 1938.
6. Lohardaga : This region were known for bauxite reserves Here industries
are smaller in size and small-scale industries such as saw mills, furniure making. Bidi
industry, rice mills Baxite is sent to Muri (Silli Block) in Ranchi where Hindalco
factory Refers  the buxite
7. Dhanbad Bokaro Region :  Dhanbad is the very important district for industry.
This region is significant industrial area of jharkhand.
Coal industry is the most dominant industry. The metallurgical coal of the
Jharia coalfield has given Dhanbad a very important place in the industrial map of
the nation. It is coal, which has attracted and brought about a concentration of
numerous other industries.
One of the largest industries is the fertiliser factory of the Fertiliser
Corporation of India at Sindri. It has the capacity to manufacture 3.5 lakh tonnes
of ammonia sulphate. 20 thousand tonnes of urea, and 54 thousand tonnes of
ammonia nitrate. Another important industry at Sindri is the cement unit of
Associated Cement Companies Ltd. (ACC)
Hindustan Zinc Ltd is another industry run by the Metal Trading Corporation
of India atTundoo. It produces lead and silver from the ores received from Zawar
mines in Rajasthan. It gets other raw materials from different places.
Dhanbad region have many industrial establishment such as Kumardubhi
Fireclay and Silica W orks Ltd.. Kumardubhi ii) the Reliance Firebricks and Pottery
(‘ornpanv Ltd, Chrikunda, iii) the Biluir Fire Bricks and Potteries Ltd., Mugma.
iv) the Hindustan General Electrical Corporation Ltd; Karampura, v) the
Khandelwal Glass Works, Ambona vi) the Shalimar Tar Products Ltd., Jharia vii)
the Hindustan Malleahla and Forging Ltd., Bhuli and viii) the McNallv Bharat.
Bokaro district is mainly known as the steel city. The giant public sector
undertaking, Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL). commenced production in October 1972.
It produced 1.7 million tonnes of ingot steel in 1978. Today the BSL produces 4.5
million tonnes of crude steel and 3.S million tonnes of ho: and cold rolled products.
It caters to the needs of a wide range of customers like the Railways, the Defence,
the LPG industry, the Cycle industry, the Car industry and many others. A new
plant ‘Electro Steel Ltd.’ has also come up in Bokaro.
 The Damodar valley corporation (DVC) associates with the two thermal power
plant viz Bakaro Thermal power plant and chandrapura Thermal power plant.
One captive power plant located in Tenughat Indian Explosive limited (IE2)
There is one explosive factory located in Gomia.
Other industries in the district are mainly mica based material Important mica
Industrial centers are Domchanch, Jhumri-Tilaiya, etc. In Hazaribagh. new Coal
mine! are coming up.
In Ramgarh, there are many large and medium industries. They are power,
cement, glass, alloy steel, telecom & refractory industries. The Patratu Thermal
Power Plant (FTPS) was established in 1960. It is under the control of Jharkhand
State Electricity’ Board (JSEB). A new thermal power plant is coming at Patratu.
There is one glass industry at Patratu named “Indo-Ashai Glass Company” which
manufactures different types of sheet glass. The Government is trying to revive
with the help of new entrepreneur. Another industry located in Patratu is “Bihar
Alloy Steel Ltd. But this industry has been taken over by Jidal Steel Ltd. In Ramgarh
Brahmaputra Steel has been established. Inland Power and Mukund Steel is going
to come up at Gola Block. Burnpur Cement Factory is also being established at
Patratu.
JHARKHAND INDUSTRIAL POLICY-2012
Jharkhand Industrial policy 2012 was formulated and implemented after the
Creation of states of jharkhand
Objectives :
1. To Convert jharkhand into a favoured destination for investors and to
promotes Sustainable industrial growth of the state.
2. To estabhish linkages between large industries and MSME ancillary
industries.
3. To give a boost to manufacturing activity and develop down stream
processing industries for consurmer durables engineering goods etc in
major industrial pockets.
4. To facilitate optimal utilization of states minerals, And other natural
resources.
5. To accelerate the growth of Sericulture handicraft, handlooms, Khadi
and village industries etc in rural areas for achieving the objective of
emphyoment generation, Utilization of local resources and exploiting the
export Efforts would be made to take steps to protect and promotes rural
handicrafts so as to conserve and enrich cultural heritages, traditional
and customes of the region.
6. To promotes skill-based, enuiromental polution free industries like It,
Biotechnology, Tourism etc
7. To utilize the advantage of the state in hurticulture, Floriculture and food
processing industries.
8. To ensure participation of ST. SC and other underprivileged Sections of
the Society in the industrial development.
9. To set up clear and Creditable specific measures to improve the investment
climate.
10. To promotic innovation and technological up gradation of Industrial
unit’s for improved production, products and productivity.
11. To reviveviable sick units
12. To enoure Balanced Regional Development So as to prevent Socio
economic disturtions due to backwardners of any region.
13. To develop industrial parko/Chusters Industrial areas in PPP mode.
14. To simplity the procedures and to ensures adminstrative and legal reforms
so as to provide hassle free Sensitive administration and time bound
effective disposal of matter in a transparent manner.
15. To Promute Private investment in engineering colleges/Medial colleges/
Nursing Institute/Management institutes under Human Resources
Development programmes and other skill development programmes.

1. In order to creating and enabling envorment for development of industrial
and related social infrastructure
2. Assist industrial sector in their marketing effort by providing adequate
support services.
3. Setting up new Industrial infrastructure dedicated to steel, automobile,
food and agro-processing, electronics, information and communication

Knowledge Cities, Centres of Excellence, Incubation Centres, SEZ etc.
4. Institutionalisation of Monitoring, Evaluation and Grievance Redressal
Mechanism.
5. To create Awarness programme an export marketing and other related
issues will be organized in association.
6. Special in insentives are proposed for women SC/ST extrepppreneur.
