Ex.2 - Aman and Bhanu invest some
amount in the ratio 4 : 5 in a business.
After 8 months, Chandan joins them with
an investment equal to thrice that of
Bhanu . In what ratio should the yearly
pro?t be shared among Aman , Bhanu
 and Chandan ?
 Sol .
Ratio of pro?t is equal to the product of
investment and time of investment .
 Ratio Aman : Bhanu : Chandan ?
 Investment 4 : 5 : 15 ?
 Time 12 : 12 : 4 ?

 Pro?t 48 : 60 : 60 = 4 : 5 : 5 ?
Ex.3 - Rajesh and Sanjay are partners in
a business ?rm. Rajesh puts in Rs. 5000
and Sanjay puts in Rs. 4000. Rajesh
receives 10 % of the pro?t for managing
the business as he is the active partner
and the rest of the pro?t is divided in the
ratio of their capitals. If the total pro?t is
Rs. 1000, ?nd Rajesh’s total share.
 Sol .
Here the investment time is the same ,
then the pro?t will be shared in the ratio
 of their investment .
Rajesh gets 10% of total pro?t as he is
 active partner = 100 Rs. ? 1000×
 10
 100
 Remaining Pro?t = 900 Rs.
 Ratio of Pro?t 5000 : 4000 = 5 : 4 ?
 Rajesh total share 100 + 500 = 600 Rs. ?

 Pinnacle Day: 53rd Partnership
 Partnership
When two or more persons join hands for
a business to attain pro?ts is called
Partnership and the persons are called
 partners .
 Types of Partners :-
 1. Active Partners: The partner who
manages the business is known as
 Active Partner or working partner.
 2. Sleeping Partner: A partner, who
simply invests his money in the business
but does not manage it voluntarily is
 referred as Sleeping partner.
Every partner invests some amount of
money for a certain time to help the
 partnership ?rm to get pro?ts.
 Types of partnership :-
 1. Simple partnership – If all partners
invest their different amounts of capital
(money) for the same period or the same
capital for a different period, then such a
 partnership is called a simple
 partnership.
 2. Compound partnership – If all the
 partners invest their different capitals
(money) for different periods, then such
a partnership is called a compound
 partnership.
 In Compound partnership partners’ pro?t
not only depends on their investments
but also on the time period.

4000. Rajesh
receives 10 % of the pro?t for managing
the business as he is the active partner

ratio of their capitals. If the total pro?t is
Rs. 1000, ?nd Rajesh’s total share.
 Sol .
Here the investment time is the same ,
then the pro?t will be shared in the ratio
 of their investment .
Rajesh gets 10% of total pro?t as he is
 active partner = 100 Rs. ? 1000×
 10
 100
 Remaining Pro?t = 900 Rs.
 Ratio of Pro?t 5000 : 4000 = 5 : 4 ?
 Rajesh total share 100 + 500 = 600 Rs. ?

 Pinnacle Day: 53rd Partnership
 Partnership
When two or more persons join hands for
a business to attain pro?ts is called
Partnership and the persons are called
 partners .
 Types of Partners :-
 1. Active Partners: The partner who
manages the business is known as
 Active Partner or working partner.
 2. Sleeping Partner: A partner, who
simply invests his money in the business
but does not manage it voluntarily is
 referred as Sleeping partner.
Every partner invests some amount of
money for a certain time to help the
 partnership ?rm to get pro?ts.
 Types of partnership :-
 1. Simple partnership – If all partners
invest their different amounts of capital
(money) for the same period or the same
capital for a different period, then such a
 partnership is called a simple
 partnership.
 2. Compound partnership – If all the
 partners invest their different capitals
(money) for different periods, then such
a partnership is called a compound
 partnership.
 In Compound partnership partners’ pro?t
not only depends on their investments
but also on the time period.

 Sol .
Here the investment time is the same ,
then the pro?t will be shared in the ratio
 of their investment .
Rajesh gets 10% of total pro?t as he is

 Total investment = 200 + 300 = 500 units
 Total earning = 220 + 240 = 460 units
 Loss % = × 100 = 8 %

 Sol.4.(c) Let the investment of C = Rs. x
 B’s investment = Rs. 3x then A’s

Since, they invest their money for 1 year,
 Their pro?t ratio = 6 : 3 : 1
 Hence, money received by A

Sol.5.(a) Investment time is the same ,
So ratio of investment is equal to the
 ratio of pro?t .
 Their investment ratio :-

Sol.9.(d) Total amount invested by A
 = 20000 × 5 + (20000 + 4000) × 7

 Total amount invested by B
 = 25000 × 4 + (25000 - 8000) × 8

 Total amount invested by C
 = 10000 × 6 + (10000 + 8000) × 6

 Pinnacle Day: 53rd Partnership
 Partnership
When two or more persons join hands for
a business to attain pro?ts is called
Partnership and the persons are called
 partners .
 Types of Partners :-
 1. Active Partners: The partner who
manages the business is known as
 Active Partner or working partner.
 2. Sleeping Partner: A partner, who
simply invests his money in the business
but does not manage it voluntarily is
 referred as Sleeping partner.
Every partner invests some amount of
money for a certain time to help the
 partnership ?rm to get pro?ts.
 Types of partnership :-
 1. Simple partnership – If all partners
invest their different amounts of capital
(money) for the same period or the same
capital for a different period, then such a
 partnership is called a simple
 partnership.
 2. Compound partnership – If all the
 partners invest their different capitals
(money) for different periods, then such
a partnership is called a compound
 partnership.
 In Compound partnership partners’ pro?t
not only depends on their investments
but also on the time period.

 Sol .
Here the investment time is the same ,
then the pro?t will be shared in the ratio
 of their investment .
Rajesh gets 10% of total pro?t as he is

1. What is the formula to calculate the profit share in a partnership?
Ans. In a partnership, the profit share can be calculated using the formula: Profit Share = (Investment Ratio) × (Total Profit). The investment ratio is determined based on the amount each partner has invested in the business.
2. How do you determine the ratio of profit sharing among partners?
Ans. The ratio of profit sharing among partners is determined by the amount of capital each partner has invested, the time period of their investment, and any prior agreements made among the partners. It is usually expressed as a fraction or percentage.
3. What is the difference between a limited partnership and a general partnership?
Ans. In a general partnership, all partners have equal responsibility and liability for the business's debts and obligations. In a limited partnership, there are general partners who manage the business and have unlimited liability, while limited partners have limited liability and do not participate in day-to-day operations.
4. How are losses shared in a partnership?
