Windows 10
Windows 10 is an operating system.
It has a GUI (Graphical User Interface).
It connects software and hardware.
It helps us use apps and control the 
computer.

Pinning: Add apps to the Start Menu 
for quick use.
Aero Shake: Shake one window to 
hide all others.
Start Menu
Start button is at the bottom left.
Power button gives Sleep, Shut Down, 
Restart.
Left side shows pinned and recent apps.
Right side has live tiles you can resize.
Cortana
Cortana is a voice helper.
You can search using your voice.
It helps play music, watch videos, set 
reminders, and send emails.
Helps use two apps at the same time.

Multitasking
You can make Multiple Desktops for 
different tasks. Helps manage many open 
apps.

Window Snapping
Snap apps to any side of the screen. 
Press Windows + Left/Right Arrow to 
snap quickly.

Windows Store
Has free and paid apps. You can download games, 
music, and movies.

Microsoft Edge
It is the default web browser. Helps you 
search the internet.
Taskbar
Long bar at the bottom of the screen. Shows running apps. Click any icon to open it.

Quick Launch Bar
Middle area for favourite 
apps.

Notification Area
Shows battery, sound, 
updates, antivirus, etc.
Task View
Helps switch between open apps.
Use Task View button or Alt + Tab.
Customising the Taskbar
Right-click Taskbar ³ Taskbar settings.
Lock Taskbar Keeps it fixed.
Auto-hide Hides Taskbar when not needed.
Small buttons Makes icons smaller.
Use Peek Shows desktop when mouse moves to corner.
Taskbar position Bottom, Left, Top, Right.
Choose how icons appear:
Never combine
Always hide labels
Combine when full

Small pictures representing files, folders, and apps.

Shows drives and their contents.
Application Icons
Show apps.
Shortcut Icons
Have a small arrow.
Document Icons
Show open files on the Taskbar.
Network
Gives access to shared files.
Recycle Bin
Stores deleted files.
Customising the 
Desktop
Right-click desktop ³ Personalise ³ 
Colours.
Choose a new colour for windows and 
the Start Menu.
Turn accent colour on/off.
Turn transparency on/off.
Customising Windows 
Set-up
Changing Date & Time
Open Control Panel. 1.
Click Date and Time. 2.
Change the date on the calendar. 3.
Change hours, minutes, seconds using 
arrows.

Click OK. 5.
Setting Volume
Click the speaker icon.
Move the slider to set volume.
Using the Shortcut Menu
Right-click desktop for quick options.
Right-click any icon ³ Properties to see details.
