Introduction to Mental Health and Mindfulness
Complete the activities below to apply and deepen your learning from this module.
Activity 1: Reflection Journal: What Does Mental Health Mean to Me?
Type: Writing Activity · Estimated Time: 15 minutes
What to do:
1. Find a quiet, comfortable place to sit with your journal or a piece of paper.
2. At the top of the page, write today's date and the title: 'My Mental Health Snapshot'.
3. Answer the following prompts in 3 –5 sentences each:
4. How do you feel emotionally most days of the week? Describe using 3 emotion words.
5. What activities make you feel calm, happy, or at peace?
6. What situations tend to drain your energy or make you feel overwhelmed?
7. Draw a simple 'mental health thermometer' — shade in how full your 'mental health tank' feels
today (0% = very low, 100% = great).
8. Share one sentence from your journal with a partner (optional).
Reflection Questions:
• What surprised you about your own answers?
• What is one thing you could do this week to support your mental health?
? Teacher Tip: There are no right or wrong answers. This is your private space to be
honest with yourself.

Activity 2: Group Discussion: Myth vs. Fact Card Sort
Type: Group Activity · Estimated Time: 20 minutes
What to do:
9. In groups of 3 –4, receive a set of statement cards (provided by your teacher or written on slips
of paper).
10. Sort each card into one of two piles: MYTH or FACT.
11. Example statements: 'Only weak people have mental health problems.' / 'Mental health affects
everyone.' / 'You can always tell when someone has a mental illness.' / 'Talking about mental
health makes it worse.'
12. After sorting, discuss your choices and explain your reasoning.
13. As a class, review the answers and discuss which myths are most common among young
people.
