MODULE 11 | Mental Health & Mindfulness for Students
Guided Practice Activities
Seeking Help and Support Systems
Complete the activities below to apply and deepen your learning from this module.
Activity 1: My Support Map
Type: Visual Mapping Activity · Estimated Time: 20 minutes
What to do:
1. Draw a large circle in the centre of your page and write YOUR NAME inside it.
2. Draw 4 rings around the centre circle, labelled (from closest to furthest): Closest Trusted
People, Friends & Peers, Community & School, Professional Support.
3. In Ring 1: Write names of 2 –3 people you would tell your deepest worries to (e.g., parent, close
friend, sibling).
4. In Ring 2: Write names of wider friends or peers you feel safe around.
5. In Ring 3: Write school staff, clubs, community figures, or helplines you could turn to.
6. In Ring 4: Write professional supports such as counsellors, therapists, GPs, or mental health
lines.
7. Highlight any ring that feels empty — this is an area to build.
8. Write one action step to strengthen one ring of your support map.
Reflection Questions:
• Were there rings that felt thin or empty? What does that tell you?
• Why is it important to have support at multiple levels — not just one person?
? Teacher Tip: Having a diverse support map means you are never dependent on just one
person — and you have the right help for each kind of problem.

Activity 2: How to Ask for Help: Scripting Practice
Type: Communication Activity · Estimated Time: 20 minutes
What to do:
9. Many people struggle to ask for help because they do not know what to say. Let's practise.
10. Choose one scenario: (A) Telling a teacher you are struggling with workload. (B) Telling a
parent you feel anxious. (C) Asking a friend for support after a hard day.
11. Use this sentence scaffold to write your script: 'I've been feeling [emotion] lately. I think it might
be because [reason]. I was wondering if we could [specific request]. It would really help me if
[what support looks like].'
12. Write a complete script of 4 –6 sentences.

12. Write a complete script of 4 –6 sentences.
13. Practice saying it aloud on your own — notice where you feel hesitant.
14. Role-play with a partner: one person is the helper, one is asking for help. Then swap.
15. Discuss: What made asking for help feel hard? What made it easier?
Reflection Questions:
• What barrier to asking for help do you most relate to — pride, shame, not wanting to burden
others?
• What would you say to a friend who was hesitant to ask for help?
? Teacher Tip: Asking for help is not weakness — it is one of the most courageous and
self-aware things a person can do.
