Project Overview 
Understanding YouTube's rules before you publish protects your channel and your audience. In 
this project, you will research key policies and apply them to real content planning decisions. 
Learning Objectives 
• Identify the major categories of YouTube Community Guidelines 
• Understand what content can lead to removal, strikes, or demonetization 
• Apply policy knowledge to content planning decisions 
• Create a personal content policy checklist for your channel 
 
Project Tasks 
Task 1: Policy Category Overview 
Research and summarize in 1–2 sentences each: Spam and deceptive practices, Sensitive 
content, Violent or dangerous content, Hate speech, Harassment and cyberbullying, 
Misinformation. Include one real-world example of a violation for any two categories. 
Task 2: Yellow Dollar Sign (Demonetization) Research 
Research YouTube's advertiser-friendly content guidelines. List 5 types of content that can lead 
to limited or no ads on a video. Explain why advertisers avoid these types of content. 
Task 3: Policy Decision Scenarios 
For each of the following content ideas, decide: Is this safe to post? Could it receive a strike? 
Might it be demonetized? (a) A video debating a controversial political topic. (b) A true crime 
documentary-style video. (c) A comedy skit featuring dark humor. (d) A fitness video showing 
intense exercise without safety warnings. 
Task 4: Personal Channel Content Checklist 
Create a pre-upload checklist (minimum 10 items) that you will use before publishing any video. 
Items should check for policy compliance, advertiser-friendliness, and community safety. 
Project Deliverable 
A document with your policy summaries, demonetization research findings, scenario decisions 
with justifications, and your completed pre-upload checklist.
