1. Force is a push or pull acting upon an object. 
 
2. Balanced forces: The resultant of all the forces acting on a body is zero. 
 
3. Unbalanced forces: The resultant of all the forces acting on a body is not 
zero. 
 
4. Newton’s first law of motion states that A body at rest will remain at rest 
and a body in motion will remain in uniform motion unless acted upon by an 
unbalanced force. 
 
5. The property by the virtue of which an object tends to remain in the state 
of rest or of uniform motion unless acted upon by some force is called inertia. 
 
6. The mass of a body is a measure of inertia. 
 
7. The momentum of an object is the product of its mass and velocity and 
has the same direction as that of the velocity. Its SI unit is kg m s
-
¹. 
 
8. Newton’s second law of motion states that the rate of change of 
momentum of a body is directly proportional to the force and takes place in 
the same direction as the force. 
 
9. Force is also defined as the product of mass and acceleration.

represented by the symbol N. A force of one newton produced an

4. What is Newton's second law of motion?
Ans. Newton's second law of motion states that the rate of change of momentum of an object is directly proportional to the force applied, and the change in momentum takes place in the direction in which the force is applied. The formula for this law is F = ma, where F is the force, m is the mass of the object, and a is the acceleration produced.
5. What is the difference between balanced and unbalanced forces?
Ans. Balanced forces are forces that cancel each other out and do not cause any change in the motion of an object. On the other hand, unbalanced forces are forces that do not cancel each other out and cause a change in the motion of an object. When unbalanced forces act on an object, it either starts moving or changes its velocity or direction of motion.
