Let's assume that the tank has a capacity of 1 unit.

- One tap can fill the whole tank in 4 hours.
- So, in 1 hour, the tap can fill 1/4th of the tank.

When half of the tank is filled:

- The amount of water filled = 1/2 unit.
- The amount of water remaining = 1/2 unit.

Now, three more taps are opened. So, the total number of taps working = 4.

- In 1 hour, one tap can fill 1/4th of the tank.
- So, in 1 hour, four taps can fill the whole tank.
