Itz acidic guys ....Gastric juice is made up of water, electrolytes, hydrochloric acid, enzymes, mucus, and intrinsic factor. Hydrochloric acid is a strong acid secreted by the parietal cells, and it lowers your stomach's pH to around 2.

Because wall of the stomach consists gastric glands which secretes an enzyme Pepsin , Hydrochloric acid and mucus. Walls of the stomach helps in mixing food through with digestive juice. Hydrochloric acid kills microbes that may enter along with the food and water, it also forms acidic medium for the function of an enzyme Pepsin. Pepsin enzyme meant to digest proteins. Mucus protects the wall of the stomach from the action of acid and enzyme at normal conditions.
