Sodium is completely filled with K and L shell because its atomic no. is 11.So, we know that K shell contains 2 electrons and L shell contains 8 electrons so 2+8 = 10. And only 1 electron is left in M shell. So, the Valency of Sodium is 1 positive.
And we also know that the Valency of atom is the how much electrons it can donate or how much electrons does it need to complete its 1shell.

Sodium (Na),

Atomic number=11,

it have 3 shell(K,L, M),

2, 8,1
so, K and L are completely filled,

M shell is unfilled,
Valency= 1
