Addition reaction and hydrogenation are same reactions. Hydrogenation is the other name of addition reaction. It is so because in this reaction hydrogen is added in the presence of catalyst such as nickel or palladium. Means unsaturated hydrogen is converted into saturated hydrogen

I think hydrogenate is a type of addition reaction

No as in hydrogenation only hydrogen is added. whereas in addition reaction any member of the halogen family can be added

Yes because in this reaction H2 is added to element in presence of catallist.
