In elastic collision the Total Energy is conserved, But the individual energies are not conserved. During elastic collisions exchange of energy occurs hence individual energy is not conserved. Assertion says energy of both bodies are conserved. Hence its wrong that only TOTAL ENERGY is conserved and not the individual energies.
But the statement 2 is correct as isolated systems never loss or exchange energy, Energy is conserved in isolated systems.
