Mosquito fish is fresh water fish , gambusia lives in fresh water .. there is a habitat difference.

There's a habitat difference between the two. Gold fish is marine while as gambusia(Mosquito fish is freshwater fish)
.Another reason is that gold fish is toxic to ammonia which may be present in the stagnant water. however, gambusia fish is not!
