Mitotic and Meiotic are basically the two types of cell division through which the cells of our body divide and form new cells as per requirement. mitotic division occurs in the somatic cells of our body and they are 2n type. their function is basically for growth, replacement of old or dead cell or repair.

meiotic cell divisions, on the other hand, are occurring in the sex cells or reproducing cells. They are of n type. They divide into 4 daughter cells where each daughter cells have n no. of chromosomes(23|that's half of the total human chromosomes).their basic function is the production of young ones.
