The YBUS matrix of a 100-bus interconnected system is 90% sparse. Hence the number of transmission lines in the system must be
  • a)
    450
  • b)
    500
  • c)
    900
  • d)
    1000
Correct answer is option 'C'. Can you explain this answer?

Electrical Engineering (EE) Question

Spersity of Ybus=90%
total no elements = 100x100
= 10000
but 90% elements are zero= - 9000/1000
non zero element =
diogonol elements = 100/900
non zero off diagonal elements=
therefore, no. lines = 1/2(no of non zero off  diagnol elements
= 900/2= 450
