The functional unit of the kidneys is called the nephron. This is a very small structure within the kidneys, which is responsible for maintaining a fine salt-to-water ratio through a network of capillaries. Through the nephron, this ratio is maintained by continually pulling out a combination of water and/or salt from blood and converting it to urine to be disposed of through urination.

Nephron is a tubular structure inside the kidney hence it is called as Structural and functional unit of the kidney. As the nephrons filter the unpure blood, they are called so.

Correct answer is 'B' PART .
NEPHRON

Because functional unit of kidney is nephron. Each kidney contains thousands of neuron that filter the blood to remove wastes.

The nephron is the microscopic structural and functional unit of the kidney. It is composed of a renal corpuscle and a renal tubule. At the end of the tubule, the remaining fluid—urine—exits: it is composed of water, metabolic waste, and toxins.
