x-2/y-2=5/7 implies 7x-5y=4 -(1)
x+2/y+2=7/9 implies 9x-7y=-4. (2)

(1) * 7 - (2) * 5 gives x=12

To find: Present age of B

Solution:
Let the present ages of A and B be A and B respectively.
According to the given condition,

(A-2)/(B-2) = 5/7 ----(1)
(A+2)/(B+2) = 7/9 ----(2)

Solving the above equations, we get:

A = 22
B = 28

Therefore, the present age of B is 28 years.
