Difference between Logical reasoning and critical reasoning.
1. Logical reasoning and critical thought are two sides of the same coin, although not necessarily the same thing.
2. Logical reasoning is self explanatory. It’s a way of of resolving a quandary through the application of principles of logic. You can look at it as the math equation of the Transitive Property of Equality. If A=B and B=C, than A=C.
3. It doesn’t matter how you feel about A, B or C, it’s just the way it is.
4. Critical thought involves a little more questioning. Do things make sense? Who stands to gain the most? These are the types of questions that would lead you to dismiss the arguments on one side of an issue and embrace the other side as being more credible.
5. Looking objectively at the furor over guns, it’s clear that only one side has a huge financial stake in the outcome. The NRA collects and spends hundreds of millions of dollars with no plausible objective other than protecting the sale of guns. Linking them to a defense of the 2nd Amendment is specious. Are there any other powerful lobby groups who feel the need to protect the other nine?
6. Critical thought is a process which allows you to examine and eliminate possibilities. Whatever is left, no matter how improbable is most likely, the answer.
