Why Do We Have Emotions? |
Emotions are feelings that we experience in response to different situations, people, or events. They are like the colors of our feelings, helping us understand and react to the world around us. Emotions can be positive (happy, excited) or negative (sad, angry), but all emotions are important because they tell us how we feel about what's happening in our lives.
How It Feels: When you feel really good inside, like when you’re playing with friends or getting a gift.
Words to Express It: Happy, joyful, excited, cheerful.
Example Sentence: "I feel happy when I play with my puppy."
How It Feels: When you feel down or upset, like when something bad happens or when you miss someone.
Words to Express It: Sad, upset, unhappy, lonely.
Example Sentence: "I feel sad when my best friend moves away."
How It Feels: When you feel mad or frustrated, like when something is unfair or someone is mean.
Words to Express It: Angry, mad, furious, upset.
Example Sentence: "I feel angry when someone takes my things without asking."
How It Feels: When you feel scared or worried, like when there’s a loud noise or you’re about to do something new.
Words to Express It: Scared, afraid, nervous, worried.
Example Sentence: "I feel scared when I have to go to the dentist."
How It Feels: When something unexpected happens, like getting a surprise gift or seeing something amazing.
Words to Express It: Surprised, amazed, shocked, astonished.

How It Feels: When you have warm and strong feelings for someone, like your family or best friend.
Words to Express It: Love, care, affection, adoration.
Example Sentence: "I love my family because they always take care of me."
When we talk about our emotions, we use words to explain how we feel. This helps other people understand us better. For example:
Try matching the emotion with the right word:
You got a new toy.
(Happy, Angry, Scared)
Ans: Happy
It’s dark, and you hear a strange noise.
(Sad, Scared, Surprised)
Ans: Scared
Your friend didn’t share their snack.
(Happy, Angry, Surprised)

Emotions help us communicate how we feel. For example:
Match the emotion with the situation:
You get a new puppy.
(Happiness, Sadness, Anger)
Ans: Happiness
You lost your favorite toy.
(Love, Sadness, Excitement)
Ans: Sadness
Someone eats your candy without asking.
(Fear, Anger, Surprise)
Ans: Anger
Your friends throw you a surprise birthday party.
(Disgust, Fear, Surprise)
Ans: Surprise
Emotions are like the weather of our hearts—they change and help us understand what we’re experiencing. It’s okay to feel all kinds of emotions, and it’s important to talk about them when you need to!
