  • There are four modes of transport available to us. They are:-
    1. Roadways 
      • Roads help us to move around within cities and towns.
      • India has largest network of roads. The state capitals and important cities are connected to each other by national highways
    2. Railways
      • railways transport new materials to the production units and finished goods to the markets.
      • help in reducing sufferings during natural calamities.
      • facilitate easy movement of police, troops and defend equipment.
    3. Airways
      • Airports are built to operate the aeroplanes.
      • The passenger airplanes have approx 100 to 800 passenger according to their capacity and sizes.
    4. Waterways
      • Water transport requires less maintenance, thus a convenient mode of travelling.
      • Inland transport and oceanic transport are the two types of water transport.
