Once upon a time, there was a magician named Shetty who was on his way home when it suddenly started raining heavily. Shetty looked around for a place to stay dry and spotted a small fir tree. He quickly ran to it for shelter. After the rain stopped, Shetty was very happy because he didn't get wet. Grateful for the tree's help, Shetty offered to grant the tree four wishes.
The fir tree was sad because it had needle-like leaves, and no birds ever built their nests in it. So, for its first wish, it asked for green leaves like the other trees. The next morning, the fir tree was happy to see its green leaves, but soon a goat came and ate them all. For its second wish, the tree asked for gold leaves because goats don’t eat gold. The next morning, the tree was delighted to see its golden leaves, but then two men came and stole them.
For its third wish, the tree asked for glass leaves, thinking no one would steal them. The next day, the tree was pleased with its shiny glass leaves, but at night, a strong wind blew and shattered all the glass leaves.
The fir tree was sad and realized it liked its original needle-like leaves the best because goats couldn't eat them, no one could steal them, and the wind wouldn't break them. The next morning, the fir tree woke up with its needle-like leaves back and felt happier than ever.
The theme of this story is about appreciating what you already have. The fir tree learned that its original needle-like leaves were the best for its needs, even though they seemed less beautiful. The story teaches us to be happy with what we have and not always wish for something different, as what we have might be just what we need.
