= 155 paise
155 paise = 155 × 0.01 Rs.

Q2: Express the following as rupees using decimals
Two thousand five hundred rupee five paise
(a) Rs25000.5
(b) Rs250.005
(c) Rs2500.05
(d) None of these

Sol: 1 rupee = 100 paise
Two thousand five hundred rupee five paise
= 2500.5
= 2500(100) + 5 paise
= 250000 + 5
= 250005 paise
1 paise = 0.01 Rs.
250005 paise = 0.01 × 250005
= 2500.05 Rs.

Q4: Express in meters using decimals.
9 m and 7 cm
Sol:
9m  &  7cm
9m + 7(1/100)m  ...........  As100 cm = 1 m
9m + 0.07m
= 9.07m

Q5: Kanika was given her pocket money on 1st  Jan,2008. She puts Rs 1 on Day 1, Rs 2 on Day 2, Rs 3 on Day 3, and continued on doing so till the end of the month, from this money into her piggy bank. She also spent Rs 204 of her pocket money, and was found that at the end of the month she still has Rs 100 with her. How much money was her pocket money for the month?
Sol:
 
Total pocket Money = Money in piggy bank + expenses + left
= (1 + 2 + 3 + ... + 31) + 204 + 100
= 31 x 32 / 2 + 204 + 100
= 31 x 16 + 304
= 496 x 166 + 304
= 800 Rs.

Q6: Express in meters using decimals.
419 cm
Sol:
419cm
As 100cm = 1m
1cm =  1/100
So 419cm
=  419/100 m
= 4.19m

1 rupee=$0.0152
Work out which jacket is the cheapest and by how many rupees.

Given cost of blue jacket is 180$
as we know that 1 rupee = 0.0152$ ⇒ 1$= 1 / 0.0152 = 65.79 rupees
1  euro =76.05 rupee
Cost of grey jacket is 165 euro =165 × 76.05 = 12,548.25  rupees
Cost of blue jacket in rupees is 180 × 65.79 = 11,842.2 rupees
Difference in the cost is 12,548.25 − 11,842.2 = 706.05 rupees
So we can say that
Blue jacket is cheapest by 706.05 rupees

Q10: Express the following as rupees using decimals
Ten paise
Sol:
We know that 1 rupee=100 paise
1 paise = 1/100  Rs.
= 0.01 Rs.
Ten paise = 10×0.01
= 0.1 Rs./-

= Rs121/100 – 0.55

∴ The subtraction of Rs0.55 from 121paise = 66paise

Q18: Subtract:
286paise from Rs7.02
Sol:
286paise from Rs7.02
= Rs7.02 – 286paise
= Rs7.02 – 286/100
[1Rupee = 100paise]
= Rs7.02–2.86
= Rs4.16
∴ The subtraction of 286paise from Rs7.02 is Rs4.16

Q19: What is 10 USD in INR, if 1 USD = 71.85 INR.
Sol: 
The Value of 10 USD = 718.5 INR.
Given in the question 1 USD = 71.85 INR.
We have to calculate the value of 10 USD in INR.
Hence we are asked to use the initial value given in the question.
And multiply it by the value we are asked in the final part in the question.
Hence from the information given in the question the value of 10 USD can be calculated as:-
By multiplying both the values to calculate the answer.
This comes out to be 71.85×10=718.5 INR.

Q20: Add (giving answer in rupees):
73 paise and Rs2.08
Sol:
73 paise and Rs2.08
= 73 + 2.08 × 100
Since, 100paise = Rs1
= 73 + 208
= 209paise
Now, 209/100 = Rs2.09
∴ 73paise+Rs2.08 = Rs2.09
