HM Amit Shah to launch Vibrant Villages Programme in Kibithoo border village in Arunachal Pradesh

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will be on a two-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh from April 10. On the first day of the visit, he will launch the 'Vibrant Villages Programme' in Kibithoo, a border village in the Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh. This program aims to empower people living in border villages.
Additionally, Mr. Shah will inaugurate nine Micro Hydel Projects under the "Golden Jubilee Border Illumination Programme" in Kibithoo, which will further enhance the electricity infrastructure in the region. During his visit, he will also inaugurate ITBP projects in different locations and interact with ITBP personnel at Kibithoo. Furthermore, an exhibition showcasing the products made by women members of Self-Help Groups of border districts will be organized, which Mr. Shah will visit to appreciate the efforts of these women.

President Murmu presents National Grassroots Innovation Awards and inaugurates FINE-2023

President Droupadi Murmu presented NIF's 11th Biennial National Grassroots Innovation and Outstanding Traditional Knowledge Awards at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Center (RBCC) on April 10. She also inaugurated the Festival of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (FINE)-2023 at the Sports Ground near RBCC. In her address at the award ceremony, the President highlighted the potential of citizens at the grassroots level to come up with science and technology-based innovative solutions for the betterment of the nation.
She praised the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) for its role in encouraging and supporting such innovators, mentioning that NIF has recognized more than 1,000 grassroots innovators and school students at the national level. She also commended NIF for creating a database of technical ideas, innovations, and traditional knowledge practices from various districts of the country.

Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates Yoga Mahotsav in Dibrugarh

Union Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the International Yoga Mahotsav at the Dibrugarh University Playground on April 10. The event was organized to mark the upcoming International Day of Yoga 2023. Mr. Sonowal emphasized the importance of practicing yoga for a healthy and peaceful life, urging every household to incorporate it into their daily routine. 
He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for promoting yoga globally. As part of the event, an MoU was signed between Dibrugarh University and Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga to promote yoga among students. Mr. Sonowal also announced the establishment of a 100-bedded yoga and naturopathy hospital in Dibrugarh.

UP gets World's first Asian King Vulture Conservation and Breeding Center

Uttar Pradesh has established the world's first Jatayu Conservation and Breeding Center (JCBC) for the critically endangered Asian king vulture. The center, located in the Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh, aims to maintain a sustainable population of Asian king vultures by breeding them in captivity and releasing them into the wild. 
This initiative is crucial as the Asian king vulture is protected under the Wildlife Protection Act and is listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List. The JCBC plans to have at least 40 vultures in captivity over 15 years to ensure the species' conservation. The Forest Department has partnered with the Bombay Natural History Society for technical guidance.

World Homeopathy Day

World Homeopathy Day is celebrated on April 10 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the founder of homeopathy, German physician Samuel Hahnemann. This day is observed to honor homeopathy and its contributions to the field of health. Samuel Hahnemann, born on April 10, 1755, in Paris, made significant discoveries in the medical field. He believed that to treat a patient's illness, the ingredients that cause the disease's symptoms should be administered. 
This year marks the 268th birth anniversary of Samuel Hahnemann. World Homeopathy Day aims to raise awareness of homeopathy as a medical system and increase its rate of success. In India, the day is celebrated under the aegis of the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, as homeopathy is one of the country's most popular medical systems. On this occasion, the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) is organizing a scientific convention in New Delhi, with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurating the event. The theme of the convention is 'Homoeoparivar- Sarvajan Swasthya, One Health, One Family.'

Indian-American mathematician CR Rao awarded International Prize in Statistics

Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao, a renowned Indian-American mathematician and statistician, will receive the 2023 International Prize in Statistics, considered equivalent to the Nobel Prize in the field. The award recognizes Rao's monumental work over 75 years ago, which revolutionized statistical thinking. 
He played a significant role in establishing the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata and has been associated with the institute since 1941. Rao has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including the Padma Bhusan and Padma Vibhushan from the Government of India. He was also elected as a fellow of the Royal Society and received the US National Medal of Science. His work continues to have a profound influence on science.

Odisha receives investment intent of Rs 26,000 Cr as Patnaik meets Japanese industrialists

Odisha received investment intent of Rs 26,000 crore across various sectors as Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met Japanese industrialists in Tokyo. The sectors include logistics, steel, Green Hydrogen, and IT/ITeS. During the business meeting, representatives from more than 200 leading companies in Japan and the Indo-Pacific region explored opportunities for collaboration with the state government and local companies in Odisha.
An MoU for collaboration in the skill development sector was signed between Nihon-Utkal and IIIT, Bhubaneswar. Chief Minister Patnaik also held a meeting with the senior leadership of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), who expressed their commitment to supporting infrastructure development in Odisha. Patnaik highlighted Odisha's fast growth and emergence as a major industrial destination due to its natural resources and strategic location.

Indian GM Gukesh wins title at World Chess Armageddon Asia & Oceania event


Teenaged Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh emerged victorious in the World Chess Armageddon Asia & Oceania event, defeating former world rapid champion Nodirbek Abdusattorov of Uzbekistan in the final. Gukesh secured his win after losing the second game against Abdusattorov and using his "extra life" to restart the match. The final game ended in a draw, with Gukesh crowned as the champion. Both Gukesh and Abdusattorov have earned a spot at the Armageddon's Grand Finale, scheduled for September. The 16-year-old Indian triumphed in a field that included renowned players such as Vladimir Kramnik, Daniil Dubov, and Vidit Gujrathi.
