Bangladesh-US Joint Naval Exercise Begins in Chattogram

The joint naval exercise between Bangladesh and the United States, named 'Tiger Shark 40', has commenced at BNS Nirvik in Chattogram. The primary objective of this exercise is to enhance the strategic capabilities of both countries and foster mutual technical and procedural knowledge. The training exercise aims to strengthen the existing good relations between the armed forces of Bangladesh and the United States. The Special Forces of the Bangladesh Army and Navy, along with the US Special Forces, are actively participating in this exercise under the leadership of Commodore Swords Command.

PM Narendra Modi Flags Off Uttarakhand's First Vande Bharat Express Train

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first Vande Bharat Express train in Uttarakhand via video conferencing. The train will operate from Dehradun to Delhi and marks the introduction of Vande Bharat Express in Uttarakhand. The Prime Minister also dedicated the newly electrified rail line sections in Uttarakhand. With the electrification of the entire rail route in the state, trains running on electric traction will experience increased speed and enhanced haulage capacity. The Vande Bharat trains are equipped with the 'Kavach' -Automatic Train Protection System, an indigenous Indian security system. These trains are also known for their eco-friendly features.

Sreeshankar Wins Gold, Jeswin Takes Silver at International Jumping Meeting in Greece

Indian athletes Murali Sreeshankar and Jeswin Aldrin secured the top two positions in the men's long jump event at the International Jumping Meeting held in Kallithea, Greece. Sreeshankar clinched the gold medal with a season-best jump of 8.18m. He started with a jump of 7.94m and consistently performed well in subsequent attempts. Jeswin Aldrin won the silver medal with a jump of 7.85m, showcasing his remarkable talent. Notably, Jeswin set a new national record earlier this year by achieving a jump of 8.42m at the Indian Open Jumps Championships.

AI Supercomputer 'AIRAWAT' Puts India Among Top Supercomputing League

India's AI Supercomputer 'AIRAWAT,' located at C-DAC, Pune, has secured the 75th position in the world according to the 61st edition of the Top 500 Global Supercomputing List. This recognition places India among the leading nations in AI supercomputing. 'AIRAWAT' is part of the National Program on AI initiated by the Government of India. It consists of the AIRAWAT PoC, providing 200 AI Petaflops, integrated with PARAM Siddhi – AI of 210 AI Petaflops. The system delivers a peak compute capacity of 410 AI Petaflops Mixed Precision and sustains a compute capacity of 8.5 Petaflops (Rmax) Double Precision. This achievement signifies India's significant progress in the field of supercomputing.

Justice S Vaidyanathan Appointed as Acting Chief Justice of Madras High Court

President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Justice S Vaidyanathan as the Acting Chief Justice of Madras High Court, effective from May 25. This appointment follows the retirement of the present Acting Chief Justice T Raja. Justice S Vaidyanathan will assume the role of Chief Justice until the Supreme Court Collegium's recommendation for the appointment of a Chief Justice for Madras High Court is decided upon. The Supreme Court has recommended the appointment of Justice SV Gangapurwala, currently serving as the Additional Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, as the Chief Justice of Madras High Court. Justice S Vaidyanathan has an impressive academic background, having obtained degrees in economics and law.

World Thyroid Day

World Thyroid Day is celebrated annually on May 25th to raise awareness about thyroid diseases, which pose a significant global health concern. It is crucial to be aware of the consequences of thyroid disorders and take necessary precautions. The European Thyroid Association (ETA) was established on May 25th, and it became the reason to celebrate World Thyroid Day. In 2010, the American Thyroid Association (ATA) also extended its support for this global observance. This year, the theme is 'Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer,' aiming to combat the low awareness rates worldwide regarding thyroid diseases.

Tamil Nadu Government Signs Six MoUs with Singapore

The Tamil Nadu government and various organizations in Singapore have signed six Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in the presence of Chief Minister M K Stalin and Singapore's Minister for Transport and Minister in-charge of Trade Relations, S Iswaran. These MoUs facilitate research and development initiatives, collaboration between universities, government entities, and private players, as well as assistance in exports. Notably, an MoU has been signed between Guidance Tamil Nadu and Hi-P International to establish an electronics spare parts unit with an investment of Rs 312 crore, generating employment opportunities for over 700 individuals. Other MoUs focus on technology transfer, cooperation, and skill development.
