India's First Cable-Stayed Rail Bridge, Anji Khad Bridge, Completed

India has successfully completed the construction of the Anji Khad rail bridge, which is the country's first cable-stayed rail bridge. This remarkable bridge, consisting of a total of 96 cables, will connect Katra to Reasi in Jammu and Kashmir. Despite the challenging geographic conditions in the region, Indian Railways has achieved this significant milestone in just 11 months.
The Anji Khad bridge has been built using cutting-edge technology and is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions. Its total length is 473.25 meters, with a height of 196 meters from the river bed to the formation. Initially, an arch bridge design was proposed but was later rejected due to concerns over the geological stability of the area.
This new cable-stayed bridge will not only contribute to the development of the country's economic growth but also promote tourism in the region. It is a testament to the engineering expertise and dedication of Indian Railways in overcoming challenges and pushing the boundaries of infrastructure development.

Synthetic Nanoparticles and Polymers Offer Solution for Internal Bleeding

Engineers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have developed a two-component system consisting of synthetic nanoparticles and a polymer, which could revolutionize the treatment of internal bleeding. When injected into the body, this system helps form blood clots at the sites of internal injuries, mimicking the natural clotting process of the human body.
The synthetic nanoparticles and polymer have shown significant improvements over previously developed haemostatic nanoparticles in a mouse model of internal injury. This breakthrough technology has the potential to save lives by providing a means to control severe internal bleeding until the patient can receive medical attention at a hospital.
This innovative approach showcases the continuous advancements in medical science and highlights the potential of engineered materials to address critical medical challenges.
