Digital SAT English Syllabus and Pattern

The Digital SAT English section is a computer-based, adaptive exam evaluating college readiness in reading, language, and writing skills. Used by leading universities globally, it provides a standardized measure to compare applicants' verbal skills for undergraduate admissions. The digital SAT has streamlined the English section by combining Reading and Writing into a single Reading and Writing section. This section includes concise reading passages, each followed by a single multiple-choice question, to test comprehension, language skills, and critical reasoning.

Structure of the Digital SAT Reading & Writing Section

The new Digital SAT, in use since 2023, includes a Reading & Writing section designed to assess comprehension, language, and analytical skills.

  • Duration: 64 minutes
  • Total Questions: 54 multiple-choice questions
  • Modules: 2 modules, each with 27 questions

Your performance on the first module determines the difficulty level of questions in the second module—higher-difficulty questions offer greater scoring potential.

The Reading & Writing section is scored out of 800, contributing half of the total Digital SAT score of 1600.
