§ A, B & C class councils - 579 MT, 1077 MT, 1065 MT per day 
respectively  
Ø Only 26.3 % of Municipal solid waste scientifically treated and disposed.  
Leading to water pollution, air pollution and soil contamination resulting in 
adverse health impacts  
Ø Biomed Waste:  62334 health care establishments. Waste generated @ 750 
MT/month, presently treated in 36 common biomedical waste management 
facilities @ 540 MT/month is treated in individual facilities  
Ø 4 common industrial hazardous waste management facilities 
Ø Effluent generation in the Municipal Corporation is 3,545 ML/D & Treatment 
level is 28% 
Ø Common Effluent treatment plants (CETP) operational at 20 industrial 
clusters, 4 under commissioning. Total effluent treated CETP - 182.85 MLD, 
7353 total member units. Overall Pollution Load (COD) Reduction in year 
2008-09: 115,467 MT (77.2%)  
Ø 123 and 127 water quality monitoring stations operational through National 
and State water monitoring program 
Ø Electronic Waste: @ 55,410 MT/annum of electronic waste projected in 
Mumbai and Pune region. One operational e-waste management facility 
Ø Climate Change Adaptation Action Plan prepared 
Ø Adaptation measures can be implemented by respective agencies as per the 
recommendations and plans derived from this study after Cabinet approval 
Ø Constitution of dedicated Climate Cell in the department
