EPITHELIAL TISSUE

? Epithelial tissue consists of tightly packed cells resembling a
continuous sheet and lacks blood vessels. They are present in
the skin of our body and cover each and every internal organ
of the body too.

? Skin which is the largest organ of our body is a waterproof
covering and is made up of this tissue called epithelial tissue.

? Epithelial tissue is categorized on the basis of the number of
cells and the shape of the cells.

? On the basis of the number of the cells if it’s single layer then
it is called simple epithelial tissue whereas if it has many
layers it is called stratified epithelial tissue.

? On the basis of the shape of cells, this Epithelial tissue have
three variants:

1) Squamous epithelium which are flat resembling tiles of
pavement.
2) Cuboidal epithelium which are like ice cubes.
3) Columnar epithelium which are rectangular column.

? All these three variants are further classified into different
subtypes.
