Image and Figure Counting

In the Image and Figure Counting reasoning section, figure counting refers to the process of formation of a defined geometrical figure with the use of pieces of different designs. On other hand, images are of various types such as Mirror Image, Water Image etc. Mirror Image is the image or the reflection of an object into a mirror when that object is placed near it.
Water Image is the reflection of an object into water. It is the vertically inverted image obtained by turning the object upside down. The water image of all figures looks like the mirror image of the figure when the mirror is placed horizontally at the bottom of the question figure. Several types of problems based on Image and Figure Counting reasoning sections are asked in various government competitive exams, some of them are given below.

Types of Image and Figure Counting Reasoning

As now we know what consists of the questions related to the Image and Figure Counting reasoning section.
Let us see the various types of questions that may come one by one from below:

  • Mirror Image: In this type of image and figure counting reasoning, the image of an object in a mirror is called its mirror image i.e. if we put a mirror in front of an object then the inverted reflection of the object is called mirror image.
  • Water Image: In this type of image and figure counting reasoning, the image of an object in a mirror is called its mirror image i.e. if we put a mirror below an object then the inverted reflection of the object is called water image.
  • Embedded image: In this type of image and figure counting reasoning, an image is given followed by some options. Candidates need to find the correct option in which the given image is hidden.
  • Completion of incomplete pattern: In this type of image and figure counting reasoning, a figure where some part of that figure is missing will be given. you need to find the pattern or image which will fit in the incomplete figure.
  • Assemble Image: In this type of image and figure counting reasoning, there will be a set of few figures, Candidates are required to assemble those and make a complete figure.
  • Paper Cutting and Folding: In this type of image and figure counting reasoning, a sheet/paper is folded multiple times and cut and then candidates will be asked how the sheet will appear after unfolding.
  • Counting Figures: In this type of image and figure counting reasoning, a shape or figure of a geometric object will be given. From the given shape candidates have to identify a given known shape and count the number of times it is present in the given shape.

How to Solve Question Based on Image and Figure Counting – Know all Tips and Tricks

Candidates can find various tips and tricks from below for solving the questions related to the Image and Figure Counting reasoning section.

  • Tip # 1: The letters which have their mirror images identical to the letter itself are:
    A, H, I, M, O, T, U, V, W, X, Y
The letters which have their mirror images identical to the letter itself are: i, l, o, v, w, x
The number which has its mirror image identical to the number itself is: 0, 8.
  • Tip # 2: The letters which have their water images identical to the letter itself are: C, D, E, H, I, O, X
The letters which have their water images identical to the letter itself are: c, l, o, x
The numbers which have their water images identical to the letter itself are: 0.

Examples

Example 1: How many triangles are there in the given figure?
Figure Formation and Analysis Tips and Tricks for Government ExamsAns: The triangle in the figure are:
