  • With the help of this GATE Civil paper analysis, aspirants will be able to know the exact pattern and difficulty level of the exam.GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering), is a national level entrance test held by the GATE Committee across India every year. 
  • The GATE exam will be a CBT(Computer-based Test) of 3 hours comprising 65 questions and the maximum marks will be 100. You should kick start your preparations now. It is very important for all the candidates to analyze previous year’s question papers to know all the overall and sectional difficulty levels along with the topic-wise distribution of questions.

GATE Civil Exam Pattern 2022

The GATE CE 2022 notification has not been released yet. If the officials are to be believed, then the notification for the year 2022 will be released later this year. However, keeping in mind the earlier trends, one can expect the exam pattern to be the same.

General Aptitude and Subject Specific

  • The GATE Civil exam is online. It is a computer-based test (CBT).
  • The Division of Marks will be General Aptitude for 15% of total marks, Engineering Mathematics for 15% of total marks, and Paper or Discipline opted for by a candidate for 70% of total marks.
  • The questions paper will have a mix of Numerical Answer Test (NAT), Multiple Select (MSQ), and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). The detailed GATE Exam Pattern is discussed below.
  • There will be a total of 65 questions.
  • The question paper will carry a total of 100 marks.
  • The Questions to be answered in a total time of 3 hours.
  • There will be two sections i.e. General Aptitude and Core Subject (CE)
  • 1/3 mark will be canceled/deducted for 1 mark MCQ.
  • 2/3rd mark will be deducted for the 2 mark MCQ.
Overall Highlights of GATE CE 2021 Paper
  • The overall level of the GATE CE exam was Moderate to Difficult as some questions tested the preparations of students.
  • Geotech Engineering and Environmental Engineering carried the highest marks weightage in both the sessions.
  • The qualifying cutoff for the GATE CE 2021 exam will be around 27-29 marks
