discuss some impacts of e-commerce on
the world as we know it firstly we will
go over what is ecommerce ecommerce is
buying and selling goods and services
over the Internet the e-commerce builds
on traditional commerce by adding the
flexibility that networks offer and the
availability of the Internet
over the past 12 years
the Internet has changed the way we buy
and sell goods and services 66% of the
adults online have purchased goods or
services over the internet but if you
extend the e-commerce this definition to
include researching products and
services online without buying anything
then the number of adults who
participated in e-commerce jumps to 93%
that's just about all of us you may be
wondering how did ecommerce get started
ecommerce is history is short but
fascinating as far back as the 1960s
businesses were using primitive computer
networks to conduct electronic
transactions CompuServe was one of the
first popular networking services for
home PC users providing tools like email
message boards and chat rooms in the
mid-1980s CompuServe added a service
called the electronic mall where users
could purchase items directly from 110
online merchants while the electronic
mall wasn't a huge success it was one of
the first examples of e-commerce as we
know it today in 1990 a researcher named
Tim berners-lee proposed a hypertext
based web of information that a user
could navigate using a simple interface
called a browser he called it the world
wide web in 1991 the National Science
Foundation lifted a ban on commercial
businesses operating over the Internet
paving the way for web-based e-commerce
e-commerce sale presents tremendous
opportunities for all kinds of
businesses starting from big
corporations to
preneur with small business and
consumers can buy almost anything
ecommerce presents and less
possibilities for entrepreneurs because
they can now start a business with a lot
less costs and still be able to reach
their desired market or demographic
lastly we will go over some advantages
and disadvantages of e-commerce some
advantages include increases in
flexibility ease of shopping
opportunities for collaboration with
business partners and return on
investment because inventory needs are
reduced some disadvantages include
bandwidth capacity problems security and
privacy issues accessibility and
acceptance overall ecommerce has
impacted the world forever you can buy
and sell almost everything in our
doorstep with the magic of e-commerce
e-commerce has changed our lifestyles
entirely now you don't have to spend
time and money and traveling to the
market also ecommerce is one that the
cheapest means of doing business
ecommerce has made it possible to reduce
the cost of promotion of products and
services there is no time barrier in
selling the products one can log on to
the internet even at midnight and can
sell the products at a single click of
mouse how awesome is that ecommerce also
reduces delivery time and labor cost
thus thanks to e-commerce it has been
possible to save the time of both the
vendor and the consumer I hope you
