Question 1: Basva’s Appa takes the onions to the market in a truck. Think, how would fruits and vegetables be taken to another place, if there were no proper roads.

Answer: If there were no proper roads, then fruits and vegetables would have to be taken by rickshaw, bullock cart or cycle. This would have taken longer time. If water routes would have been good, then they may be taken to other places by using water transports, such as boats, ships, etc.

Question 2: What kind of vehicles are used to carry fruits and vegetables? Draw a picture of one of these vehicles in your notebook.

Answer: The vehicles that are used to carry fruits and vegetables are trucks, wagons, pushcarts, etc.

Wheat is grown in our area.

Steps involved in growing this crop are given as follows:

I. First, the nutrients and fertilisers are added to the soil for the proper growth of the crop. I. Soil cultivation is done by using spade. Spade is a tool used for digging the soil. II. Seeds of wheat are then sprinkled or sown in the soil using a seed drill. III. Wheat seeds are then sufficiently covered with soil to prevent them from drying. IV. The seeds are then properly irrigated (2−3 times a year). V. Weeds that grow along with the wheat plants are removed because they are unwanted plants and can harm the yield of the crop. VI. Harvesting is done by using ‘combine’ (a tool used to separate the kernel [seeds of wheat] from the other plant material).
