NERVOUS TISSUE

? The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord, sensory
organs, and all of the nerves that connect and coordinates its
actions by transmitting signals to and from the different parts
of the body.

? The cells that make up the components of our nervous system
together forms the nervous tissue.

? The Brain controls all the decisions while the spinal cord acts
as a channel by which it can regulate and decide the
necessary actions to be done.

? There are many wires like connections in our body these are
called as nerves. There are long strand like fibers called as
nerve fibers.

? The basic unit of the nervous tissue is a neuron or nerve cell.

? It is elongated in shape; its upper part is the cell body with few
threads like projections from the cell body called as dendrites.
One of the projections which extend further to form a long
filament is called as the axon.

? These neurons may be of two types: sensory neurons and
motor neurons.

? And based on the type of neurons, there are two type of nerve
fibers; sensory nerve fiber which is made up of all sensory
neurons and a motor nerve fiber which is made up of all motor
neurons.
