 Let's Abolish Child Labour

By Aakansha

As we approach the World Day Against Child Labour on 12th June, it's imperative to address the pressing issue of child labour that continues to plague our society. Despite stringent laws and regulations, children are still being exploited and deprived of their fundamental rights.
Children as young as five are being forced into various forms of labor, including working as domestic servants, dhabha workers, rag pickers, street vendors, and even beggars. This not only robs them of their childhood but also hinders their physical, mental, and emotional development.
It's disheartening to see these young souls toil away in hazardous conditions, deprived of the joys of play, education, and overall growth. Engaging children below the age of 14 in any form of work is not just morally wrong; it's also a punishable offense, with fines up to Rs. 20,000 or imprisonment up to one year, or both.
It's time for us to take a stand and pledge to eradicate this curse from our society. Every child deserves the chance to dream, learn, and grow into a productive member of society. Let's join hands to raise awareness, advocate for their rights, and create opportunities for these children to break free from the chains of child labor.
Together, let's work towards building a future where every child is free to explore their potential and contribute positively to society. Let's make a collective effort to free our country from the scourge of child labor and ensure a brighter tomorrow for generations to come.
