Plan to set up computer labs in 10,000 schools of the state

Why is News?

According to information received from the media on September 3, 2023, the Bihar Education Department has prepared an action plan to set up computer labs in ten thousand government schools of the state.

Key Points:

According to the information, Additional Chief Secretary of Education Department KK Pathak has instructed the District Magistrates and Deputy Development Commissioners to set up computer labs in selected schools.

Students of classes 6 to 8 will get the facility of this lab. A lab of 20 computers will be set up in secondary schools and 10-10 in middle schools.

In the first phase of this scheme, computers will be installed in 4707 schools.

According to the Education Department, work is also being done to connect 100 percent students of class 6 and above i.e. up to 100 percent in government schools of the state with computer education and training. This will benefit about 75 lakh students.

‘Jeevika Didi Ki Rasoi’ Scheme started in 6 more hospitals

Why is News?

On September 4, 2023, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav launched the ‘Jeevika Didi Ki Rasoi’ program for patients in four sub-divisional hospitals along with two medical colleges of the state.

Key Points:

Under the agreement between Jeevika and State Health Committee, ‘Jeevika Didi Ki Rasoi’ in sub-divisional hospitals Rajgir, Danapur, Dhamdaha and Forbesganj along with the inauguration of Jannayak Karpuri Thakur Medical College and Hospital Madhepura and Bhagwan Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences Nalanda (Pawapuri). Was launched.

At present, under the resolution of Bihar Government and Jeevika, a total of 106 Jeevika Didi kitchens are being successfully operated in collaboration with various departments and community-based organizations.

Under this initiative, employment will be available to about 100 rural Didis and their family members which will help in their economic and social development.

On this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister said that Jeevika Didi’s Kitchen is an ambitious initiative of the Bihar Government. Its objective is to provide clean and high-quality food to patients and consumers.

This important initiative has resulted in a fundamental change in the livelihoods of approximately 1600 women and their family members.

It is worth mentioning that the operation of Jeevika Didi’s kitchen was started in the year 2018 by the Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Committee.

Health department released booklet of new Drug Policy in the state after 27 years

Why is News?

On September 4, 2023, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav released the booklet of the new drug policy in the state after 27 years.

Key Points:

After the introduction of the new drug policy, need-based availability of medicines and medical materials will be ensured in government hospitals to provide proper treatment facilities to the citizens of the state. Also, the possibility of expiry and damage of medicines will be reduced.

The policy also lays down guidelines for destruction of expired and damaged drugs.

In the new drug policy, a policy has been prepared to assess the need for medicines and make a request. Now it is the responsibility of the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent and In-Charge Medical Officer of government hospitals to make a need-based assessment and demand for continuous availability of all types of EDL medicines issued by the Health Department in government hospitals.

The dates for the demand for medicines have also been fixed by the hospitals as per their requirement. Now hospitals will be able to demand essential medicines for April, May and June between January 1 and 10. Similarly, from April 1 to April 10, medicines for July, August and September will be demanded, medicines for October, November and December will be demanded between July 1 and 10.

The hospital superintendent will send the demand for medicines for January, February and March to BMSICL between October 1 and 10.

An alert of expired medicines will be sent to the in-charges. Information related to such medicines, which are going to be spoiled in the near future, will be sent to the Manager, Director, Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, In-charge Medical Officer of the Institute through SMS, WhatsApp and e-mail.

3 Teachers of Bihar received National Teacher’s Award

Why In News?

On the occasion of Teacher’s Day on 5th September, in a function organized at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, President Draupadi Murmu presented the National Teacher’s Award to three teachers from Bihar selected for the National Teacher’s Award 2023.

Key Points:

It is noteworthy that President Draupadi Murmu awarded the National Teacher’s Award for the year 2023 to a total of 75 selected teachers from across the country at a function organized at Vigyan Bhavan.

In this teacher’s felicitation ceremony, all the award-winning teachers were given Rs 50,000 in cash, citation, shawl, quince.

Anil Kumar Singh, a teacher of Adarsh Balika Plus Two Higher Secondary School Ramgarh in Kaimur district of Bihar, Dwijendra Kumar, a teacher of Secondary School Madhuban, Sitamarhi, and Kumari Guddi, a teacher of High School Singhia in Kishanganj, were given the National Teacher’s Award.

National Teacher’s Day:

Celebrated on 5th September every year since 1962, the day aims to honor the contribution of teachers including school teachers, researchers and professors in India.

The then President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, suggested celebrating his birthday as Teacher’s Day in response to the students’ request for the celebration.

National Teacher’s Award:

The National Teachers Awards aims to celebrate the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers of the country and to honor those teachers who through their commitment have not only improved the quality of education but also enriched the lives of their students .

These awards are presented by the President of India on 5th September every year.

The award consists of a silver medal, a certificate and a cash amount of Rs 50,000.

This year, in addition to the teachers selected by the School Education and Literacy Department, teachers selected by the Higher Education Department and Skill Development Ministry have also been included in the scope of the award.

20 Teachers of Bihar received State Teacher’s Award

On September 5, 2023, Education Minister of Bihar, Prof. Chandrashekhar presented State Teacher’s Awards to 20 government teachers in Patna. Seven women teachers are among the 20 government teachers selected for the State Teacher’s Award.

This felicitation ceremony was held at Shri Krishna Memorial Hall, Patna, in which the teachers were

given a check of Rs 15,000, costumes and mementos as prizes.

During the felicitation ceremony, the District Education Officers of the first three districts who deposited the maximum amount in the Director of Primary Education Teacher Welfare Fund were rewarded.

Poonam Sinha, principal of Government Girls Higher Secondary School of Patna district, Subir Banerjee, principal of Government Deaf-Mute Boys School and primary school teacher Neetu Shahi were honored.

Apart from this, Arjun Kumar Saha of Katihar, Sangeeta Kumari of Malmal High School, Madhubani and Umesh Kumar Yadav, teacher of Middle School, Hariharpur, Vaishali have also been honoured.

Harsh Becomes Junior Brand Ambassador of IIT Incubation Center

According to information received from the media on September 6, 2023, Harsh Rajput of Bihar Bal Bhawan Kilkari Institute has been selected as Junior Brand Ambassador in IIT Patna.

Recently, a competition was organized on behalf of this institute on Research Scholars-Day, in which Harsh got the first position.

Wetland Mitra (Caretaker) will be Selected for the Maintenance of Wetlands in Bihar.

Why In News?

According to the information received from the media on September 10, 2023, health cards of 45 wetlands are being made in Bihar and Wetland Mitra (caretakers) will be selected to look after the wetlands.

Health cards of 45 wetlands spread over 10 thousand 778 hectares in 10 districts of the state are being made. Its objective is to make an action plan for their development and utilization.

These ten districts include Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, Khagaria, Samastipur, Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Munger, Lakhisarai, Buxar. Of these, Samastipur district has a maximum 11 wetlands covering about 3910 hectares.

The state is preparing to send a proposal to the Central Government to declare four wetlands in four districts as Ramsar sites. These include Udaipur Lake spread over about 319.7 hectares in West Champaran district, Vikramshila Dolphin Sanctuary spread over about six thousand hectares in Bhagalpur district, Gogabil Lake spread over about 137 hectares in Katihar district and Gokul Reservoir spread over about 125 hectares in Buxar district.

At present, Kanwartal of Begusarai district has been declared Ramsar site in the state.

What is the Ramsar site?

Ramsar sites are declared wetlands that meet international standards. Collaboration is done by other organizations of the world including UNESCO to conserve and promote the wetlands declared as Ramsar sites of the world. The Wetlands Conference was held in Ramsar, Iran in 1971. Many countries signed the treaty, in which India was also included.

21 Check Dams will be Built in Patna for Water Storage.

Why In News?

On September 11, 2023, the media reported that 21 check dams would be constructed in the Patna district for the purpose of water harvesting.

Key Points:

According to officials, a target has been set to complete most of the check dam work in the current financial year by March 31, 2024.

According to officials, approval has been received to build 18 check dams through MNREGA and 3 with help from the Agriculture Department. The work of building 14 check dams has also started.

Initially, it was intended to construct 80 check dams in the Patna district, but once it was physically checked, it was decided that just 21 were required.

The check dam built by MNREGA is of minimum 1500 square feet. To build a check dam, a minimum area of 1500 square feet is required. Most of the dams in Patna are being built in more areas than this.

According to officials, an average Rs 9 lakh is spent on building a check dam. A check dam in Dhanarua is almost ready. It has been made as a model check dam.

When there was no water in Ahar, Pine Pond, canal etc farmers had to irrigate by running tube wells. This problem will end after the construction of the check dam. Arrangements are being made to store water throughout the year in the check dam. Rain water will be collected in the check dams. This water will be used for irrigation through Ahar or Pin.

President honored Four Farmers and Two Farmer Groups of Bihar

Why In News?

On September 12, 2023, President Draupadi Murmu honored four farmers and two farmer groups from Bihar in the ongoing four-day conference in New Delhi.

Key Points:

The farmers who were awarded include two from Rohtas and one each from Jamui and Munger. Whereas among the farmer groups there are Litchi Farmer Producer Group and Bhagalpur Katarni Rice Producer Group.

Personally, to Arjun Mandal of Jamui for preserving the cultivation of medicinal plants, to Satyadev Singh of Munger for preserving the varieties of gram and titi, to farmer Dilip Kumar Singh of Rohtas for preserving the varieties of brinjal, tomato, bitter gourd and white varieties of coriander. Arjun Singh of Rohtas has been awarded for preserving rice, turmeric and gourd.

In the program organized by the Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Protection Authority, a group of farmers received Rs 10 lakh each and an individual farmer received Rs 1 lakh each as a prize.

Third-Fourth Railway Line will be Laid from Deendayal Upadhyay Junction to Kiul via Patna.

Why in News?

In the press conference held at Danapur DRM office on September 13, 2023, MP Ramkripal Yadav said that the Railway Ministry is going to start the construction work of the third and fourth railway lines from Kiul to Deendayal Upadhyay Junction.

Key Points

The Railway Ministry has allocated Rs 7.80 crore for the Final Location Survey (FLS), which covers 390 km. There will also be a survey for the construction of a long railway line, due to which in addition to the existing double main line, two more new lines will be constructed between Kiul-Patna-Deendayal Upadhyay railway section.

A third railway line will be constructed in Danapur yard, so that trains coming to and from North Bihar and Patna can operate uninterrupted. At the same time, a survey for Bihta to Aurangabad railway line will start soon.

A master plan is being prepared to develop four important stations - Danapur, Patna, Patliputra and Rajendra Nagar Terminal - connected to the Patna area of Howrah-New Delhi railway line.

Goods shed will be constructed at Sadisopur, Kurji Mohammadpur, Gonpura and Jatdumri stations under Danapur division. Stations will be completely constructed in Sadisopur and Kurji Mohammadpur.

Survey for construction of rail line (ROR) over the rail line will begin from Sadisopur. This ROR will be available at Kurji Mohammadpur station.

Sangeet Natak Akademi Award to 4 Top Artistes of Bihar

Why In News?

On September 16, 2023, at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar honored the country’s top senior most artistes (above 75 years of age) with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, which also includes 4 top artistes from Bihar.

Key Points:

These include senior artists of Bihar Suman Kumar, Ganesh Prasad, Raghuveer Malik and popular folk singer Bharat Singh Bharti.

Bihar’s folk singer, musician, lyricist and music guru Bharat Singh Bharti was given this honor for his special contribution in the field of folk singing.

Bharat Singh Bharti has sung and written more than 1000 songs. He has also composed hundreds of Bhojpuri songs. Two collections of his songs ‘Nayka Bihaan’ and ‘Sapt Sarovar’ have come out.

CM Inaugurated the Country’s Largest Laundry in NMCH

Why In News?

On September 15, 2023, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched the country’s largest integrated laundry facility at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH).

Key Points:

This unit is the largest and first unit in the country as well as Bihar. Its capacity is 12-14 tonnes per day.

Here, sheets, towels and other clothes of health institutions like PMC HNMCH Indira Gandhi Heart Disease Institute will be washed together. It is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.

For quality cleaning here, the Health Department has entrusted the responsibility of operation to the Quick Clean Agency.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a 100-bed field hospital building constructed with prefab technology in the NMCH campus.

Exhibition of ‘Suryakal’ and ‘In Another Green’ in Bihar Museum

Why In News?

On September 15, 2023, Anjani Kumar Singh, Director General, Bihar Museum, inaugurated the exhibition of Israeli artists ‘In Another Green’ and ‘Suryakaal’, an art exhibition focusing on the Sun, courtesy of ‘Mentor Art’ Mumbai, under the Bihar Museum Biennale.

Key Points:

‘In Another Green’ exhibition has been set up in the study center of the children’s gallery. The exhibition includes paintings by two artists, Lior Grady and Yosef Joseph Yatov Dadone.

‘Suryakal’ exhibition is being organized in the multipurpose hall of Bihar Museum, which will be displayed till November.

This exhibition will present the photographs of Chhath festival of senior cinematographer Shailendra Kumar, resident of Patna, along with the unique pictures of Surya series of Udayraj Gadnis.

State Function Organised on the Birth Anniversary of Late Sir Sivasagar Ramgoolam Ji

Why In News?

The first Chief Minister, Prime Minister and sixth Governor-General of Mauritius at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on September 18, 2023. A state function was organized near the statue of Sir Sivasagar Ramgoolam.

Key Points:

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Late Sir Shivasagar Ramgoolam ji, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar paid emotional tribute to him by garlanding his life-size statue.

On this occasion, Aarti puja, bhajan-kirtan and singing of Bihar songs were performed by the artists of the Information and Public Relations Department.

Sir Shivasagar Ramgoolam

Sir Shivasagar Ramgoolam was the first Chief Minister, Prime Minister and sixth Governor-General of Mauritius.

He was the Prime Minister of Mauritius from 1968 to 1982. He was a follower of Hindu religion, a supporter of Hindi language and a nurturer of Indian culture.

During his tenure there was a lot of progress in the teaching and learning of Hindi. Despite adverse circumstances and scarcity, he left no stone unturned in the development of Hindi.

It was he who first gave the idea of establishing the World Hindi Secretariat.

Sir Shivasagar Ramghoolam has the status of Father of the Nation of Mauritius.

Harigaon in Bhojpur district of Bihar is also known as the land of the ancestors of the Father of the Nation of Mauritius, Sir Shivasagar Ramgoolam.

GST Tribunal Bench will open in Patna

Why In News?

Notification has been issued to soon start the GST Tribunal in Patna, the capital of Bihar on September 18, 2023. After the formation of the GST Tribunal bench, businessmen will be able to approach the GST Tribunal instead of Patna High Court.

Key Points:

Under the GST Act, in departmental action, the first appeal is made to the Commissioner on the demand issued against the traders. If a businessman is not satisfied with the hearing of the Commissioner, then he has to go to the Patna High Court.

In the GST Tribunal, cases related to registration, rejected refund, e-way bill, ITC and disputed GST related cases will be resolved in less time.

Four members will be appointed in the GST Tribunal, of which two will be judicial and two technical members.

Rhino and Vulture Conservation Centre will be Built in Valmiki Tiger Reserve, Bihar Government formed ‘Rhino Task Force’

Why In News?

According to information received from media sources on September 17, 2023, the Bihar government has started preparations to constitute a ‘Rhino Task Force’ to suggest measures for the conservation of rhinos in Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR). Based on its recommendations, a rhino conservation plan will be started in VTR.

Key Points:

According to sources, the Central Government has included rhinoceros and vulture conservation in its plan in Bihar. We have also started sending the first installment of financial assistance to the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department.

The department has currently planned to conserve rhinoceros and vultures in Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR). Work on this has started in principle. It has been decided to increase the rhino dominated areas in VTR by five percent in the next two years.

The rhinos will be taken out of crowded areas and shifted to areas marked in the VTR. Ganauli and Madanpur have been identified as potential areas.

The aim of this scheme is to provide more space for rhinos to breed and increase their numbers. At present there is only one rhino in VTR and 14 rhinos in Patna Zoo.

VTR has been selected for the conservation of endangered vultures in the state. There are places being identified where vultures are seen. Extensive arrangements will be made to feed the vultures at those places. Besides, vultures will be monitored by building towers. Anti poaching camps will be made. At present, vultures are seen in small numbers in Supaul district apart from VTR in the state.

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, APCCF (Wildlife) Prabhat Kumar Gupta said that after the tiger, the central government has included rhino and vulture conservation in the state in its plan. Now financial help will be available every year.

Vultures have come under the category of endangered species. Efforts are being made all over the world to save them. Including these, expenditure was made from the state plan last year on ‘Rhino Conservation Scheme’. To save it, an area was selected and efforts to create awareness among the people started.

‘Rhino Week’ will be celebrated in Patna Zoo from 20th to 22nd September. Zoo administration said that a proposal has been sent to Indian Oil Corporation and SBI for the adoption of black panther and rhino brought from Assam. If they agree, their adoption ceremony will take place on September 22.

An expert meet will be organized on September 20, in which rhino experts from various zoos like Assam Zoo, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi will participate. Rhino quiz, display of rhino care, thematic pot painting competition will be organized on 21st September.

It is known that ‘World Rhino Day’ is celebrated every year on 22 September. Patna Zoo has made an important contribution in the conservation of rhino. There is also a Rhino Breeding Center here. In such a situation, people coming here will get a chance to know about it.

‘Rang Jalsa’ started at Premchand Theater in Patna

On September 19, 2023, a three-day Rang Jalsa started at Premchand Theater in Patna on behalf of Nirman Kala Manch.

Key Points:

Usha Kiran Khan was given ‘Rang Shanti Smriti Samman’ in the program.

The play ‘Kahan Gaye More Ugna’ written by Usha Kiran Khan and directed by Sanjay Upadhyay was presented in the theater and the street play ‘Andher Nagari’ written by Bharatendu Harishchandra under the banner of HMT was also performed.

Poet Vidyapati was the center of the music-oriented drama, in which a dramatic experiment was made to connect Vidyapati and his society of six hundred years ago with today’s Baba Nagarjuna, Rajkamal and Renu.

Socialist Thinker and Writer Sachchidanand Sinha received ‘Satrachi Samman’

Why In News?

Socialist thinker and writer Sachchidanand Sinha was awarded the ‘Satrachi Samman’ for the year 2023 by the Satrachi Foundation at a function held in Muzaffarpur on September 20, 2023.

Key Points:

Famous writer-thinker and political intellectual Sachchidanand Sinha was given a check of fifty-one thousand rupees, a certificate of honor, a cloth and a memento as a mark of respect.

It is known that for Satrachchi Samman 2023, The selection committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Prof. Veer Bharat Talwar.

It is noteworthy that ‘Satrachi Samman’ was started in 2021 by Satrachi Foundation, Patna. The objective of ‘Satrachi Samman’ is to ‘underline writings related to rightful social concerns’.

Premkumar Mani in 2021 and Prof. Chauthiram Yadav in 2022 has been honored with this recognition.

Sachchidanand Sinha

Sachchidananda was born in 1928.

Sachchidanand Sinha remained active as a writer, thinker, speaker, journalist, editor and activist throughout his life. The sources of his ideology remained within the socialist ideology, but he expressed his belief in taking a critical view towards socialist politics and its leaders.

Some of his major books: Chaos and Creation (Arup aur Akar), Sanskriti Vimarsh, Culture and Socialism, manav sabhyata aur rashtra-raajya, Adventures of Liberty, Zindagi: sabhyata ke hashiye par, kadavi phasal, nihattha paigambar, marksvaad kilohiyawadisamiksha, naksali andolan ka vaicharik sankat, Emergency in Perspective - Reprieve and Challenge etc.

2956 Child Scientists of Bihar Selected for Inspire Award

Why In News?

According to the information received from the media on September 20, 2023, 2956 child scientists of the state have been selected under the Inspire Award in the academic session 2021-22.

Key Points:

Selected school children will get a scholarship of Rs 10,000 each, with which they will prepare science models. After this, they will participate in the competition organized at the district level.

Selected school children will participate in the Inspire Model Competition. The district level exhibition will be held on 26th and 27th September. If selected in this, they will get a chance at the state level on 29-30 September. And the national level model competition will be organized between 9 to 11 October.

It is known that the Department of Science and Technology organizes an Inspire Award every year to increase scientific thinking among school children. In this, science ideas are sought from students from class 6th to 10th.

This year, a maximum of 330 students have been selected from Aurangabad and 311 from Vaishali. Only 110 students have been selected from Patna district.

It is noteworthy that 4653 child scientists were selected from the state in the year 2021 and 4032 in 2020.

Aspirational Blocks will Develop like Aspirational Districts

Why In News?

According to the guidelines issued by NITI Aayog on September 21, 2023, 61 aspirational blocks of Bihar will also be developed on the lines of aspirational districts.

Key Points:

Special attention is to be given to health and nutrition, education, agriculture, water resources, financial inclusion and skill development in these blocks. Blocks will also be given a separate amount as reward for better performance.

Thinking camps will be organized at the Panchayat level for the blocks where development is to take place. It started from Teghra block of Begusarai district.

The responsibility of implementing the Aspirational Block Program has been given to the Planning Development Department. The Planning and Development Department has been made the nodal agency.

Nikhil became the Best Actor and Simran became the Best Actress in the State Level Science Drama Competition.

Why In News?

On September 21, 2023, State Level Science Drama Competition-2023 was organized at Shri Krishna Science Center in Patna, the capital of Bihar, in which Nikhil became the best actor and Simran became the best actress.

Key Points:

A total of 90 children and teachers from all divisions participated in the state level science drama competition program. In which Munger division got the first prize, Darbhanga division got the second prize and Purnia division got the third prize.

The main theme of the competition was ‘Science and Technology for the Benefit of Mankind’. Under this, five sub-themes ‘Millets: The Super Food’, ‘Food Safety’, ‘Modern Technology in Daily Life’, ‘Current Progress in Health Care’ and ‘Superstition in Society’ were also included.

The winning participants will participate in the Eastern India Regional Level Science Drama Competition to be held on 27th September in Kolkata and the winners will participate in the National Level Science Drama Competition to be held on 5-6 January in the year 2024 at Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai.

Bihar Fire Training Academy will be Built in Anandpur Bihta, Patna.

Why In News?

According to information received from the media on 24 September 2023, the Home Department has approved the creation of Bihar Fire Training Academy located at Anandpur Bihta in the capital Patna.

Key Points:

Here all the officials and personnel of the fire service will be trained under Bihar Fire Service. The fire fighters of the state will be equipped with modern fire extinguishing techniques.

Preparations have been started regarding the construction of the academy building and training etc.

Under Bihar Fire Service Rules, 2021, provision for Deputy Director level Principal has been made in Bihar Fire Training Academy.

For the design of Bihar Fire Training Academy building, study has been done by sending concerned officials to other states.

Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat Train Flagged off

Why In News?

On September 24, 2023, Prime Minister Modi flagged off a total of 9 Vande Bharat trains through video conferencing. In which Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat train was also included. The inauguration ceremony was also organized at Patna Junction.

Key Points:

Vande Bharat train running between Patna and Howrah will connect the two states. This is the second Vande Bharat train running in Bihar.

Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat departed from platform number 1 of Patna on its maiden journey. On the first day she went to Howrah as an inauguration special.

The command of this train was handed over to two women loco pilots.

It will be in regular operation from 26th September. The train will run 6 days a week. There are a total of eight coaches in this train.

Vande Bharat train wi l l h ave sto p s at Patna Sahib, Mokama, Lakhisarai, Jasidih, Jamtad, Asansol, Durgapur, Howrah.

This train will take one hour less time than Jan Shatabdi to cover the distance from Patna to Howrah.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid the Foundation Stone of 55 Schemes for Development Works in Various Cities.

Why In News?

On September 23, 2023, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone of 55 schemes in various cities of the state through remote from the Integrated Command and Control Center of the Smart City Building in Patna.

Key Points:

Under this, there are 55 schemes related to storm water drainage schemes, crematorium cum Mokshadham and drinking water supply in various districts. Rs 2355.96 crore will be spent on these schemes.

These schemes launched by the Chief Minister in Patna also include 6 storm water drainage and drinking water schemes of Darbhanga, Arrah, Madhepura, Samastipur, Danapur at a cost of Rs 586.44 crore.

Apart from this, work was also started on 10 storm water drainage schemes in Patna city at a cost of Rs 1283 crore.

The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of 38 schemes of crematorium cum Mokshadham in 38 municipal bodies of 36 districts under Saat Nischay-2.

These 38 municipal bodies include Sitamarhi, Purnia, Kishanganj, Manihari, Banka Khagaria, Madhepura Araria, Supaul, Darbhanga, Bhabua, Arwal, Rivilganj, Jehanabad, Katihar, Sasaram, Saharsa, Siwan, Sheikhpura, Buxar, Lakhisarai, Muzaffarpur, Behat, Bihar Sharif, Bhagalpur, Motihari Sultanganj, Gopalganj, Gaya, Munger Shivharara, Aurangabad, Bettiah, Hajipur, Jamui, Samastipur and Nawada.

‘Minority Entrepreneur Scheme’ will be started in Bihar

Why In News?

On September 25, 2023, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s cabinet approved ‘Minority Entrepreneur Scheme’ to promote entrepreneurship and increase self-employment among the minority youth of the state.

Key Points:

Rs. 100 crore has been made available in the Entrepreneur Scheme. Under this scheme, the total project cost (Per Unit) maximum of Rs. 10 lakh will be given to the beneficiaries setting up industries.

Out of this, 50 percent amount will be in the form of loan (maximum Rs. 5 lakh) and 50 percent amount will be in the form of grant (maximum Rs. 5 lakh).

Under this scheme, funds will be given only for setting up new industries. This scheme will be effective from the date of issue of the resolution.

Additional Chief Secretary said that people belonging to minority category will be eligible for this scheme. Women belonging to the minority category will be eligible to apply for either the Chief Minister Minority Entrepreneur Scheme or the Chief Minister Mahila Entrepreneur Scheme as per their wish.

It is known that in the past Chief Minister Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Extremely Backward Class, Young Entrepreneur, Women Entrepreneur Scheme has been implemented.

Anant Manohar will be the Chairman of the State Human Rights Commission

Why In News?

In the meeting held on September 26, 2023 to select the post of Chairman of the State Human Rights Commission, retired Patna High Court judge Anant Manohar Badar was unanimously selected.

Key Points:

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Legislative Council Chairman Devesh Chandra Thakur, Assembly Speaker Avadh Bihari Chaudhary and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Vijay Sinha attended the meeting to select the Chairman of the State Human Rights Commission.

The Chairman of the Legislative Council proposed the name of Anant Manohar Badar. His name was unanimously approved. Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Hari Sahani was not present in the meeting, but he had authorized the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly to take the decision.

Anant Manohar Badar was born on 10 August 1961. He started his career as a lawyer in the year 1985 at the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court. He joined the Maharashtra Judicial Service as District Judge in November 2000. Became Additional Judge of Bombay High Court on March 3, 2014. He was transferred to Kerala and then to Patna High Court in May 2020.

Bihar will Host Five National Games for the First Time

Why In News?

According to information received from the media on September 26, 2023, Bihar will host five national games for the first time in the 67th National Games of the School Games Federation of India.

Key Points:

It is known that the 67th National School Games of School Games Federation of India is going to start in October 2023, which will continue till February 2024.

In this, four sports, cricket, athletics, football, weight lifting will be held in different playgrounds of Patna and one Sepak Takraw game will be held in Katihar.

Athletics Under-14 Boys-Girls in Patna in the fourth week of December, Weightlifting Under-17 Boys-Girls in Patna in the fourth week of December, Football Under-17 Girls Patna in the fourth week of December, Cricket Under-17 Boys Patna in January 2024. Sepak Takraw Under-17 and 19 boys and girls will be held in Katihar in the first week of January 2024.

Didi Adhikar Kendra will open in 174 Blocks of Bihar

Why In News?

On September 27, 2023, Neeraj Kumar, project manager of Jeevika in Bihar, informed that Didi Adhikar Kendra’s will be opened in 174 blocks of Bihar. Adhikar Didi will be a Didi selected from the Jeevika Group.

Key Points:

Neeraj Kumar said that like the help desks opened in hospitals, Didi Adhikar Kendra’s will be opened in the blocks. People will meet Adhikar Didi before going to the block workers. He will give information about the work for which he has come to the block, after which Adhikar Didi will coordinate him with the concerned personnel.

Many people are unable to reach officers and personnel, due to which their work is not able to be done. Some people don’t even know where their work will be. Such people will get help from Adhikar Didi.

This centre will be in the block premises only. Only Adhikari Didi will monitor the ongoing work and keep an eye on the brokers. At the same time, Cluster Level Federation (CLF) will keep an eye on the work of Adhikar Didi.

Second Badminton Talent Search Competition Started in Bhagalpur

Why In News?

On September 28, 2023, the 2nd Badminton Talent Search Competition was started by the Bihar State Sports Authority at the Indoor Stadium located in Bhagalpur.

Key Points:

The programme will continue till September 30. More than 240 players from different districts of the state are participating in it.

The second badminton talent programUnder-15, Under-17 and Under-19 boys and girls competitions will be organized at The Indoor Stadium in Bhagalpur.

District Sports Officer Jainarayan Kumar said that the selected players will be trained at the Gopichand Badminton Academy run by the Bihar State Sports Authority in Hyderabad.

Anshika Arya of Samastipur became the winner in the Under-15 girls category in the match played on the first day. Yashika Anand of Lakhisarai was the runner-up. In the Under-17 girls category, Shivangi Kumari of Khagaria was the winner and Riya Kumari of Madhubani was the runner-up.
