Ans. Structural isomers can be identified by comparing the connectivity of atoms in different molecules. If the arrangement of atoms is different, then the molecules are structural isomers. | 4. Give an example of structural isomerism. | |
Ans. An example of structural isomerism is the isomers of butane. Butane has the molecular formula C4H10. There are two structural isomers of butane: n-butane and isobutane. In n-butane, the carbon atoms are arranged in a straight chain, while in isobutane, the carbon atoms are arranged in a branched chain.

Ans. Linkage isomerism can have a significant impact on the properties of coordination compounds. Since different atoms are involved in the coordination, the geometry around the central metal atom may change, leading to different physical and chemical properties. For example, the color of a coordination compound may change due to the presence of different ligands in linkage isomers.
