Write short answers for the following:
(i)
Salient design features of structures of modern NC Milling Centers.
(ii) Control functions of a
machine control unit (MCU) in
a CNC system.
(iii)
(iv) Need and use of an

hybrid and straight CNC system.
(vi)
Write the syntax for M06 code for MaxTurn Plus+ CNC turning center with usual meaning of the
associated parameters.
2(a) A NC milling machine, having a BLU of 0.01mm is required to cut a slot in XY plane from point A(25, 4
35) to point B(75,
95) using linear interpolation. The required feed rate for cutting operation is
60mm/min. Coordinates for points A and B are in mm from the reference frame. Calculate the following:
(i)
Number of pulses and pulse frequency required for X and Y drive.
(ii)
Resolved feed rate along X and Y drives in min/min and total time required to machine the slot.
2(b) Explain the use of G50, G96
&
G97 codes in CNC turning centers and G28, M98 & M99 commands in 5
CNC milling centers with suitable examples.
2(c) Write a complete APT program using MACRO feature for
0.75 ma fan hole 	 5
drilling a matrix of the holes as shown in figure 1. The

shown in figure 2 considering appropriate nose radius
compensation for the following operations:
(i)
Stock removal cycle for turning.
(ii) Finishing cycle
(iii)
Multi-pass threading cycle (for marked location, and
assume the parameter values for threading cycle suitably).
