| 1. What is UGC NET? |  |
Ans. UGC NET, or the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test, is a national-level exam conducted in India to determine the eligibility of candidates for the role of Assistant Professor and for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges.
| 2. How many papers are there in the UGC NET exam? | |
Ans. The UGC NET exam consists of two papers - Paper I and Paper II. Paper I is common for all candidates and tests teaching and research aptitude, while Paper II is subject-specific.
| 3. What is the eligibility criteria for UGC NET? | |
Ans. Candidates must have a Master's degree with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) to be eligible for UGC NET. There is no age limit for Assistant Professor, but for JRF, candidates must be below 30 years of age (relaxation for reserved categories).
| 4. How many times is the UGC NET exam conducted in a year? | |
Ans. UGC NET is conducted twice a year - in June and December.
| 5. What is the marking scheme for the UGC NET exam? | |
Ans. Paper I consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 2 marks. Paper II consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 2 marks. There is no negative marking in the UGC NET exam.
