Can You Count the Number? |
Let us understand how to count or calculate the required coins and notes.
Example 1: If you want to buy pencils worth Rs.18 and you only have Rs.10 notes and 1 rupee coin, then how will you pay?
Cost of pencils = Rs 19You have, Rs 10 notes and 1 rupee coins
So,
Rs.18 = Rs.10 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1You will pay = One Rs 10 notes and Eight 1-rupee coins
Example 2: How many notes and coins do you need to give 135 rupees?
Rs 135 = Rs 100 + Rs 10 + Rs 10 + Rs 10 + Rs 5
You will give one hundred rupees note, three 10-rupees notes, and five coins of one rupee.
To break the given numbers, we have to separate that number into tens and ones if it is of two digits. To break up three digits numbers, we have to convert them by separating their hundreds, tens, and ones.
Example 1: 68= ___ + 8
We will divide 68 into tens and ones.
There are 6 tens and 8 ones in 68
So, 68 = 60 + 8
Example 2: 23 = 20 + ___
We will divide 23 into tens and ones.
There are 2 tens and 3 ones in 23
So, 23 = 20 + 3
