Detailed Summary

Let me tell you a story about Mother Nature. Mother Nature takes care of the Earth, like your elders take care of you. She is strong and can do many things at once, like caring for trees and flowers, building palaces underground, and telling wonderful stories.

One story is about a girl named Jeanie from Scotland. She lives in a simple home, helps her father with sheep, and wears a necklace made of special amber beads. These beads have tiny things inside them like moss, insects, and even a bee.

How did Jeanie get these beads? Her grandfather found a lump of amber on the seashore after a storm. He carved the beads and gave them to Jeanie's grandmother as a gift. When the grandmother passed away, she left the beads to Jeanie.

Mother Nature explains that long ago, the Scottish Highlands were covered in forests with special pine trees that produced fragrant yellow gum. Insects, moss, and other things got stuck in this gum and turned into amber over time.

Sometimes, the land sank into the sea, covering the forests in water. The wood and gum hardened into stone at the bottom of the ocean. Storms occasionally bring pieces of this hardened gum, like Kenneth's lump of amber, to the shore.

If we could explore the ocean floor, we would find many treasures buried there. Mother Nature's stories are full of wonder and magic, just like the one about Jeanie and her precious amber beads.
