let us now move on to treatment of

divided by 5 plus 4 plus 3 plus 2 plus 1
in the second year it would be 1 lakh
into 4 because the lie remaining life is
3 years plus the second year itself by 5
plus 4 plus 3 plus 2 plus 1 in the third
year it would be 1 lakh into 3 years
because 2 years remaining plus the
current here so it's the remaining life
of the debentures including the current
year plus again 5 plus 4 plus 3 plus 2
plus 1 second year 1 lakh into 2 by 5
plus 4 plus 3 plus 2 plus 1 and finally
1 lakh into 1 by 5 plus 4
plus three plus two plus one both the
results are exactly the same
if the debentures are irredeemable then
the loss on issue of debentures may be
written off over a reasonable period of

discount but they are redeemed at the

each so I am applying the sum of digits
method the total discount is again 1

what is the life of the debenture poor

five years if I take the sum of the
digits then it would be in year 1 it
would be 1 lakh into 5 by 15 which is
the sum of 5 plus 4 plus 3 plus 2 plus 1

15 fourth year into 1 lakh into 2 by 15
and the fifth year 1 lakh into 1 by 15
the amount of discount would therefore

for the second year is 1 lakh into 4 by
15 this would work out to 26,000 667 for
the third year it's 1 lakh into 3 by 15
that would be 20,000 the third year 1
lakh into 2 by 15 which would be 13,000
333 and in the final year 1 lakh divided
by 15 which would be 6 left 6 67
therefore this would cover the entire
