1. What are the three states of matter?
Ans. The three states of matter are solid, liquid, and gas. In the solid state, particles are closely packed together and have a fixed shape and volume. In the liquid state, particles are more loosely packed and can flow, taking the shape of the container they are in. In the gas state, particles are widely spaced and can move freely, filling the entire space available.
2. How does matter change from one state to another?
Ans. Matter can change from one state to another through the processes of heating and cooling. 4. What is condensation?
Ans. Condensation is the process by which a gas changes into a liquid. It occurs when the particles of a gas lose energy and come closer together, forming liquid droplets. This usually happens when the gas is cooled. The formation of water droplets on a cold glass of water on a hot day is a common example of condensation.
5. How does matter behave in the plasma state?
Ans. In the plasma state, matter exists as ionized gas, where atoms or molecules have lost or gained electrons, resulting in a mixture of charged particles. Plasma is often referred to as the fourth state of matter. It is commonly found in stars, lightning, and fluorescent lights. Plasma does not have a definite shape or volume and can conduct electricity due to the presence of charged particles.
