Sir,
I am Paritosh, writing this letter to draw your attention to the increasing child marriages in my locality. Child marriage is an extreme violation of children’s rights and a serious form of child abuse. It robs girls of their agency, their childhood, their wellbeing and their potential.
Being married too young forces girls into physical and emotional relationships they are not ready for, that they have not chosen, and that they have little control over. It is an act of gender-based violence that isolates girls and exposes them to physical, sexual and emotional abuse and the risks associated with early pregnancy and childbirth.
Governments have the opportunity to transform the future for millions of girls – and for their societies. To achieve this, governments must do more to develop and implement multisectoral, holistic national action plans to end child marriage, coordinating across ministries and stakeholders to deliver effective, joined- up approaches that tackle the root causes of gender inequality.
So a holistic approach has been required to end this cruel act. I request you to look into the serious concern of mine and try to take immediate steps as early as possible for the well being of the citizens.
