How Early Man Invented Wheel?

• Early man used to walk from one place to another. 
• He had to carry heavy logs of wood and animals that he hunted, back to his cave. 
• You can imagine how difficult it must have been for man to carry heavy loads on his back.

• One day, accidently, a log of wood rolled down the mountain. 
• The early man observed how easier it was for heavy things to roll down the mountains. 

• He also observed that it was much easier to roll things over rounded objects such as logs of wood, rather than pulling them.

• So, a round log of wood was the first wheel of early man.
• Early man then made carts driven by animals. 
• Later, they discovered that logs could be cut into the circular discs and used to carry heavy loads easily. 
• Many changes were made to these discs over the time which led to the invention of the present day wheel.

What are the uses of the Wheel?

• Now, man can carry heavy loads easily from one place to another with the help of a wheel. 
• Wheels increased the speed and made travelling to distant places easier.

• The invention of the wheel led to many more inventions. 
• Starting from a hand cart, present-day man has invented the aeroplane with the help of the wheel only.

• For example, pots were made on the potter's wheel.

• Slowly man developed many new vehicles like cars, buses, trains, trucks, etc. 
• All these vehicles move on wheels only.
